St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church - Tucson, AZ
Here are some photos of St. Michael's in Tucson, AZ. This parish is serve by Right Rev. Dr. Andriy Chirovsky. I took these prior to the Pre-sanctified Liturgy last night. This Parish has recently purchased this church building and I have been blessed to assist with the move and constructing the Iconostasis. The Iconostasis is originally from a Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Pennsylvania, then it belonged to a parish in Wisconsin. It was on it way to a museum a few years ago, but St. Michael's was able to get it donated to them instead. It has been in storage for some time until the parish was able to get a proper church building. It had to be altered to fit into this church so there is some more work to be done. I know there is a beautiful Icon of the Mystical Supper that still goes on top over the Royal doors. I will try to post more photos when it is finished,

I really do not know the details of which parish it came from. I just told the brief background story as to how they acquired it. If I here of wich parish it come from I will let you know.

I agree with stormshadow, and I'd go further and say that it's quite lovely in its uniqueness, although different from most of those which we ordinarily see. Many years, Neil I just read my sentence and I'm not sure it makes much sense - so, off to sleep

It looks like it was probably much larger at some point? Probably a floor to ceiling variety that were popular at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries and was cut down to fit in this church. It is beautiful and thankfully being reused rather than discarded.

It is also encouraging to see the three-barred cross making a comeback among Ukrainian Catholic chuches.

Why do we not see the three barred cross in "Ukie" American churches? Many Ukrainians regard the three-bar cross as a symbol of the Russian Orthodox Church. Nevertheless, most UGCC churches I've seen have both one-bar and three-bar crosses.
