In answer to the thread, it seems pretty clear to me the catechism affirms (or re-affirms) infallibility and supremacy as understood and stated in the post schism councils. Not exactly big news in my opinion. It's all stated in the CCEO as well.

Thanks for the link. The Google translation of the article is rather rough, but it does convey the gist of the author's concerns.

It is sad that the filioque appears in the new catechism. Alas its inclusion is just another confirmation of the new catechism's status as a Latinized document.

I've contacted the author and he's preparing an English version. Until then, I was able to get some of his conclusion into a readable English:

Quote
To summarize: The Catechism of the UGCC Church "Christ - Our Pascha" is the theological reflection of the processes currently taking place in the UGCC Church. On the one hand, it shows a certain theological, and especially an ecclesiological progress - the Church declares itself as a national church within the Eastern tradition, and this shows that is in line with other Ukrainian churches seeking recognition of its autocephaly. On the other hand, the document is clear evidence that the Church is not yet rid of the ecclesiological heritage based on the Western concept of unity of the Church called Uniatism.
