I took that picture years ago.
You can find a very high res image of that icon here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimforest/4594055285/sizes/o/It is the patronal icon that is found at Our Lady of Fatima Russian Byzantine Catholic Church in San Francisco, CA, USA.
This has always been one of my favorite icons and the high resolution lets you see the details.
Compare that with the photo taken by our own Filipe YTOL of the Fatima icon that is kept in the Byzantine Chapel of the Dormition at Fatima:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v653/pipos/blogsantiago.jpg(He did say in a
previous thread that he has a high res photo of this icon.)
Although both icons appear at first glance to be identical, there are differences, especially how the faces are drawn. Another clue is that the Fatima icon from SF shows three women in the upper left hand side with their heads covered while the icon from Fatima itself shows four women with heads covered. Looks like they were painted by two different iconographers.
Which is the original
Fatimskaya? My guess is the one in San Francisco is the original since the parish was dedicated on October 13, 1956, while the Byzantine Chapel at Fatima was dedicated on August 28, 1963.
Who was the iconographer for each? Don't know.
