So you are justifying militaristic invasions... Did I comment about Russia sending troops into Ukraine? No, I did not. I will keep my thoughts to myself for now. Is this your idea of pacifism on Clean Monday? Have you labeled me as a pacifist? Interesting. I posted a video that claims oligarchs are in power in Ukraine. At least you deleted your "moral high horse" remark.....now that was certainly not appropriate for clean Monday.

Really, guys. Putin is President, not the God-anointed Tsar. If the Russians want the monarchy restored, members of the royal family are still alive and might be interested in the job.
Alex, I was sure you were organizing a naval task force to sail for Ukraine at once. LOL.
In all seriousness, it bothers me that our own leadership is weak on the foreign affairs front. Given the general wimpiness of European governments, I don't think much help will come from them.
Many of us will be offering prayers for a peaceful resolution that is best for all the people.

I suspect that when this is all over, Ukraine's most faithful ally will be Poland. Isn't that ironic?

Dear Recluse,
Yes, of course. I apologise.
The greatest oligarch in Ukraine was Yanukovych and the revolt against him will be costly to the people (not, of course, to the other oligarchs).
For my relatives, the Kyivan Maydan has brought them to God and the Orthodox/Eastern Catholic Churches in a very miraculous manner.
Today, they attend the Divine Liturgy, light candles in Church and pray on their knees. My cousin, who was anything but religious/spiritual when I met her during her visit here has just sent me an email asking if I would mail her a prayer rope.
I am in tears as I write this, believe me, since I really feel that this is a miracle that she is asking me this, that she sends me prayers in Slavonic now and that she keeps holy icons in her room before which she also prays.
I am looking for that prayer rope right now and will package it to send it out tomorrow.
For me, right now, preparing that prayer rope is all that matters.
Glory to our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ!
Alex

Dear Charles,
I understand your quip, but I am too sorrowful and also inspired to laugh.
My formerly agnostic/religiously indifferent relatives have experienced a conversion to Christ and the Orthodox Church through the tragedy of Maydan in Kyiv. They attend the Divine Liturgy even during the week, sing akathists and molebens, and pray the Jesus Prayer. As I told Recluse, my cousin asked me for a prayer rope.
As I got to know her during the six weeks she was here - please believe me when I say that this is nothing short of a miracle and I am physicially shaken by her emails (she sends me prayers in Slavonic as well).
Anyway, take care.
Alex
