Indeed! The Roman Catholic Church needs much prayer also. In fact, we all need prayer.

Wow! That is an extremely uncharitable thing to say....especially during the season of the Holy Nativity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I totally agree, Recluse!!

As a Moderator, I remind posters that we should be charitable to each other and in our words. We can have differing opinions. We should be sensitive to others, however, in our words when expressing those differing opinions.

I strongly feel that there is a palpatable lack of charity and anomosity here, and in general, towards the Russian Orthodox church.
That is not fair or welcoming to those who are Orthodox.

To be calumny it would have to be untrue. It is a documented fact the KGB infiltrated the MP, and its Polish counterpart infiltrated the Polish Catholic Church.

That the KGB the infiltrated the MP is a fact. The Patriarch and Putin pulling ever closer and now opposing voices being silenced should be of concern to everyone.

Nonsense. The only facts you have are based on propaganda....and perhaps your own bias and disdain.

Secondly, why don't you try to start the new year without all the anti-MP propaganda.

I hope this thread can be closed.

I thought it was verified fact that the late HH Alexei II and HH Kirill were agents of the KGB in the 70s through 90s. Apologies if I was misinformed. I thought the Russian Church even confirmed this.

I suggest that charity needs to abound on all sides.

I have friends who are currently members of ROCOR. I also have friends who were members of ROCOR and left in 2006 when it reconciled with Moscow. Both are far more critical and harsh towards the MP than anything ever posted on this forum. It is said that about 40% of the delegates to the 2006 council voted against communion with the MP because of ongoing and unresolved issues (there is a small but growing Russian parish not far from where I live that is part of a jurisdiction formed in 2007). So I would think that Recluse's seeming insistence that any criticism of the MP is only unjust anti-MP propaganda is not going to find much sympathy within the larger Orthodox community. Having said that, great care must be taken when criticizing the internal order of a jurisdiction that one does not belong to.

Probably the best approach is to acknowledge that all Churches (and their members - those who lead them and those who pray within them) have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and then to offer our criticisms with prayers. And follow up our criticisms with solid suggestions to resolve whatever issue is being discussed.

I'll close this thread and encourage those who wish to discuss this topic to start new threads.
