Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew receives Jack Figel

After 10 days in Ukraine, Rome and Constantinople, I just concluded my trip with a private audience with His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew today (see the photo gallery). During the trip I met and video recorded greetings for the 20th anniversary of the Orientale Lumen Conferences in June in Washington from:

-- Bishop Milan, Eparchy of Mukachevo
-- Archbishop Sviatoslav, Major-Archbishop of Kyiv
-- Cardinal Lubomyr, Emeritus Major-Archbishop of Kyiv
-- Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for Eastern Churches
-- Archbishop Cyril Vasyl, Secretary of the Congregation for Eastern Churches
-- Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity
-- Cardinal Peter Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Peace and Justice

I also did interviews in Rome with the Catholic News Service, Rome Reports, and the Wall Street Journal about the upcoming meeting of Pope Francis and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the Greek island of Lesbos. The first article to appear is by Cindy Wooden of CNS:

What a trip it has been!

CNS also released a short video yesterday from my interview in Rome last Tuesday with me commenting in the first minute:

And I was interviewed by BBC Radio 4 on their Sunday morning religion program today (it was live at 7:10 am in London, 2:10 am here in Virginia!) after I returned from Constantinople (Istanbul) last evening. You can listen to the interview here:

I start at about 7:00 minutes into it.

Friends, I've just been invited to appear on the EWTN News Nightly with Brian Patrick tonight at 6 pm and 9 pm EDT to discuss the Pope's visit to Lesbos and meeting Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. Say a prayer I don't flub it!
