Hello,

I am new to this forum. I am from Central Pennsylvannia and I am from the Latin Rite. I usually attend a Divine Liturgy at least once a month though. I am interested in learning a great deal about Eastern Christianity. I just wanted to introduce myself.

Thanks
Devo

Welcome Devo!

You've come to the right place. I am a Latin Rite Catholic as well, and have learned a lot in my short time here. You have come to the right place. Tammy

Michael..

'Welcome to the arena"?????? A freudian slip perhaps???? Wasn't the Forum often as dangerous a place as the arena in Ancient Rome? eek "Ave, (insert title here), those who are about to die, er I mean, discuss, salute you..." biggrin

Devo,

Welcome to the Forum. My older daughters both considered Juniata in choosing colleges. The younger of the two is presently a senior at your sister college, Moravian.

Many years,

Neil

I thought I would jump in as well. I am also of the Latin Rite (after converting from protestantism 10 years ago), but attend the Divine Liturgy on a semi-regular basis. I have always had an interest and appreciation for Eastern Christianity, so I was pleased to find this forum recently.

Dear Devo,

Welcome to the Forum! And without further ado . . .

As part of your "initiation," smile please remember that we use "Church" in place of "Rite" here.

You are a member of the Particular Latin Catholic Church just as we are members of Particular Eastern Catholic Churches.

When I was introduced to His Holiness during our World Youth Day festivities in Toronto, I briefly remarked to His Holiness that our two Churches had a lot in common - we were both in communion with Rome! wink

His Holiness seemed somewhat amused by that . . .

Welcome, anyway!

Alex

Being from Southcentral PA, I'm curious as to where you attend the Divine Liturgy.

Oh no! It's Devo!

Devo welcome to the forum, where you have the freedom of choice. At times things may seem to get rough around here, but most are able to whip it. biggrin

Dear Devo,

In 1986-1988, I was a residence hall director and Latin instructor at Juniata College. I'm glad to know that it's still there! <G>

Do you ever go to the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church down in the park near US Hwy 22? Or is Epiphany Church still there?

God bless you in your studies!

Sorry,

I don't believe that there is a Latin program still here at Juniata. Also I usually attend the Divine Liturgy back home in central PA, where I am from. The church in the Nativity of St. John the Baptist and it is in Hawk Run, PA or very rarely in Ramey PA, the Annunciation which is approxiamately an hour and an hour and a half respectively. As for the Church of the Ephiphany, I have never attended it yet, but I am looking forward to it.

I am aware that there is a Ruthanian Church in Portage which is Southwestern Pennsylvannia but that is an hour from Huntingdon.

Hope that answers some questions,

Devo

Hi Devo. I'm also new at this forum and believe me, you are going to learn a lot of things here.

By the way, is there anyone from Mexico and/or lives in Mexico City (or the Metropolitan area of Mexico City??) I am trying to gather a group of Eastern Catholics to see if we are able to form a parish, other than the one that exists in downtown Mexico City.

God bless
