Ray the best thing to do would be to call the priest in charge of the Church at Jordanville (or whatever ROCOR monastery or parish you are planning to stop by) and ask him.

As someone who has frequently (and still does) visited ROCOR parishes, by all means do visit and check them out. One thing objectively that can be said - they have started many new missions, and have started several traditional monastic communities from scratch. Many Greek Catholic "jurisdictions" cannot make the same claim. One of the monastic communities I like very much, Holy Cross Hermitage, a metochion of Jordanville, can be found on-line at http://www.holycross-hermitage.com They have some of the best incense I have found and this is where I purchase incense for home and church. Another thing - the ROAC formed when dialogue between the ROCOR and the Patriarchal Church was underway, and which has prompted many of the hard-liners to gravitate there rather than stay in the ROCOR. In Christ, Ray Musicbear [/b]Ray, to my knowledge the ice is thawing quite a bit. I believe currently what does not take place is concelebration between the OCA and the ROCOR. I have heard from many people within the OCA and other jurisdictions that they have visited ROCOR churches and communed there. Like visiting any parish, they contacted the priest ahead of time to let him know they were coming and to find out he expected of them in order to prepare to commune. Andrew

I noticed on my last visit that there were several former Byzantine Catholics among the parishioners. Has anybody found that Byzantine Catholics who convert to Orthodoxy tend to head toward the more "traditionalist" Orthodox parishes or do they spread out evenly among throughout the realms?
Just wondering... Mateusz Glory to Jesus Christ! I would not have hesitated to join ROCOR if they were established closer to my home. Good liturgy is important to me and once the dialog with the Patriarchate became a reality all of my concerns about ROCOR just faded away. I can see why Byzantine Catholics go to ROCOR, part of the reason they would move on is an appreciation for the Orthodox praxis, and ROCOR is likely to be among the best exemplars of the tradition. As it is I Chrismated into the OCA, and I am happy there. I have already been informed that I would be welcome to partake at the ROCOR cathedral if I am otherwise prepared (recent confession, fasting and prayer) so as far as I am concerned there is no impediment to intercommunion between the OCA and ROCOR, even if there has been no formally published statement on the matter. I like ROCOR, in my area they are some of the best Christians I know! +T+ Michael
