The other day I mentioned (to all of the participants in the "'Ecumenical' Councils" thread in this section of the forum) that I would be trying to post a list of suggested reading for research into East-West relations, including readings which offer suggestions for approaching reunion and/or doctrinal discussion. This is that list. It focuses on the relationship between the Catholic and Chalcedonian Orthodox churches, although some of the works may touch on issues having to do specifically with Eastern Catholicism and/or non-Chalcedonian Orthodoxy. The list is by no means definitive, so feel free to add your own suggestions. The works that appear before the dashed line ("-----") are works that I have read either all or part of and can therefore vouch for. The works after the dashed line are works that I have not read at all; rather, they have either been suggested to me, or seemed like they might be interesting and relevant based on their title or subject matter. Michael Fahey's Ecumenism: A Bibliographical Overview was a source for many of the later sources. Enjoy!

Good to see Father Granfield on the list -- he's one of the three profs handling my doctoral comps this December. A very generous man he is.
