Apparently a long-standing designation for the Pope, "Patriarch of the West," has been deleted from his list of titles in the most recent Vatican yearbook. The article in which I saw this noted that this omission could have "ecumenical implications."

How so? I have never had the impression that the Eastern churches begrudged the Pope's authority over the West.
