May I ask where the 80% comes from? What is the source? Statistics answer the question, good statistics. Not a self-responding small sample size group either (like so many polls.. eerrrr!).

As the saying goes - there are lies, damned lies and statistics...

The 80% number sounded wrong to me. This link [cdi.org] which cites an Interfax poll says baseline belief in God is over 50% in Russia. I have seen similar numbers elsewhere. Certainly actual church attendance is a good deal lower.

Still not bad I think for a country that was militantly atheist for a good part of the last century.
