Dear Friends,

If anyone is interested in the writings of one of the greatest Armenian mystics, there is a web-site dedicated to St. Gregory of Narek (Arm., Soorp Kreekor Narekatsi). See:

http://www.stgregoryofnarek.am/index.php

For those who would like to study his mystic prayers and lamentations during the period of the Great Fast, there is an actual page on this site to assist you in doing so. See:

http://www.stgregoryofnarek.am/lenten.php

In Chirst's Light,

Wm. DerGhazarian

Dear Ghazar,

I remember reading something of St Gregory's years ago in high school and have always remembered it:

It is not for the gifts that I continue in my prayers,

But for love of the Giver!

Thank you!

Dear RayK,

Thanks for the interest. I hope you are fed well. wink

Dear Alex,

Ditto. I wish I could have attended your school! Thanks for sharing some of St. Narek's God-given mystical profundity. smile

Dear Ghazar,

Thank you for sharing this web site with us. I had never heard of St. Gregory of Narek, but was very touched by his lamentations. I was so touched by the prayer of his heart, that I ordered the book and can't wait for it to arrive. Thanks again for sharing this spiritual gem!

Dear Deacon Michael,

I am honored that a holy father of our little Church has touched you so. Thanks for letting me know this and may your prayers be joined with those of St. Narek before God's heavenly throne.

Dear DerGhazarian,

Could you, please, tell us about the Lenten liturgical celebration at the Armenian Church? Can you tell us about the Sunday celebration both in the Armenian Orthodox and Catholic Church? In the city I live the Armenian Church celebrates a special service on Wednesday evening (they told me that the service usually takes place on Friday evening)quite similar to the Byzantine Akathist Office to the Mother of God. Could you tell us about the ceremonies for the feast of the Forty Martyrs of Sebastia and the commemoration of St gregory commitment to the pit.Thak you very much.I wish to all our Armenians brothers and sisters a very spiritually rich Holy Lent.
Yours in Christ
F

Dear William,

Your one great contribution to world ecumenism is that you've convinced us all that in addition to St John of the Ladder and ST Ephrem the Syrian, we should all read St Gregory of Narek for our staple Lenten readings!
