Peace to all!

I have just received an invitation to the episcopal ordination and enthronement of the first eparch of the new Ethiopian Eparchy of Emdeber (which, unfortunately, I am not able to attend).

The spelling of proper names below is taken from the invitation.

Abba Musie Ghebreghiorghis, OFM Cap, will receive episcopal ordination on Sunday, February 8, 2004, in the Catholic Cathedral, Addis Ababa. His consecrator will be His Grace, Abune Berhaneyesus Souraphiel, Metropolitan Archbishop of Addis Ababa, and the co-consecrators will be Abune Woldetensae Ghebreghiorghis, Titular Bishop of Asuoremixta and Vicar Apostolic of Harar, and Abune Tesfaselassie Medhin, Eparch of Addigrat.

The enthronement will taken place at Emdibir on February 15, 2004.

Many years!!!

I have a friend who's looking for a name for his new born baby boy who's supposed to pop up some time next month. I'll suggest some of the names above.

Charles,

How disappointing! And an invitation well-merited! I know how to make you feel better about not getting to attend; I'll go as your delegate cool maybe bring you back some video and a sampling of snacks from the reception afterward wink .

May God grant many years to His servant Abba Musie, Abune-elect of the Eparchy of Emdibir.

I realize the comments above on the names were intended to be light-hearted, but it doesn't seem appropriate to ridicule the names of the hierarchs of one of our Sister Churches. A prayer that God grant the Eparch-elect many years would seem more in keeping with our traditions.

Many years,

Neil
