Hi Alex

We have the first Roman Catholic Basilica in the U.S., the Basilica of the Assumption.

We're also home to the Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

No miracle working shrines yet...although one lady has been seeing the Bohorodica on a screen door leading to her back porch...

Dear Mark,

Your state coat of arms is certainly fascinating since it has Crosses!

And no one down there has said anything about it? Like that it's against the Constitution or something like that? wink

Hi Alex

It's actually the coat of arms from the Calvert Family, the Lords Baltimore, who were the founders of Maryland.

Yeah, kinda cool huh....

Not really Annie, it was named for the wife of King Charles I.

We used to get Maryland Day, March 25, as an official State Holiday with a day off, when I first started working for State government.

Annapolis was named for the future Queen Anne...
