http://www.pravoverni.wz.sk/pravoverni_video45.htm This site has a nice 8 minute montage of footage from Vladyka Nikolaj's funeral. The singing (the little bit that's in the video) is good quality prostopinije. Vicnaja jemu pamjat! Dave

Dave,
Very interesting, and the music was wonderful being sung congregationally.
In IC XC, Father Anthony+
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Chtec DaVID,
I'm surprised to find:
a). they sang predominately Subcarpathian-Rus' Prostopinije
&
b). no "high-back" phelons.
The Prostopinije was "duzhe fajno".
Can you name some of the hierarchs present? Were any of the vested priests Greek Catholic? While I saw Eparchial Bishop Babjak and the Roman Catholic bishop, I didn't see Bishop Emeritus Hirka.

I'm not surprised in the least that they sang prostopinije or that they wore low back vestments: they're both the standard for the Orthodox there, thank God! I was surprised to see that they followed "Ruthenian" practice and had Metropolitan Nikolaj's body facing the people, and had the chalice set and other priestly items at the head of the casket. I didn't really recognize many of the hierarchs, but here\'s a list (po Slovensky) of th...thodox churches present for the funeral. [ orthodox.sk] I doubt that any of the vested priests were GC; it's a miracle that representatives of the GC Church were even present! Also, I don't know exactly when they renovated the Presov cathedral, but it was in the past several years; Metropolitan Herman of the OCA was present for its reconsecration a couple years ago. Dave (but for Ung, Чтец Давід Михал Мастроберти )

I also thought it was not working for me until I realised that off to the right of the screen the 'slide' was up. Then it occured to me to move it down and there they all were waiting for me.
Great pics and there are plenty of RC bishop looking people on the opposite side of the Cathedral from the RC bishop sitting by himself.
Hope that works for you now.

Piroh,
Try opening the link with Real Player 10, especially if you're using MS XP.
