Roman Redneck, This has never been the position of the Church, it has always recongnized that some schismatics and even heretics had valid apostilc orders. Stephanos I :p Not that I am calling anyone a schismatic or a heretic, but they do exist you know.

As far as I can see from the post, many are trying to redefine a teaching that is already in place, By the words of both the Church of Rome and the Orthodox Churches, the term "sister churches" is used. This means that while they may not be in full agreement, they both recognize that each holds valid apostolic sucession in thier orders. With the Anglicans, both have held that this not the case, being that the formulas for cconsecrating new hierarchs was defective for over a hundred years from the early 1600s to the mid 1700s. This ruling has been held by both the Roman See and the Orthodox since the 1920s when the matter was throughly investigated, and formal statements have been made. I suggest that if you aretruly curious concerning this, you do some in-depth research on the matter instead of throwing some covert snowballs. Remarks like this can lead to serious misunderstandings, especially when both churches have taken the matter and issued definitive statements concening them.
I refer to the Balamaand agreement and the Encyclical Orientale Lumen.
Forgive me in advance, Father Anthony+
Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

Father Anthony, BLESS US! An Orthodox priest that reads Encyclicals---is definitely a man after my own heart! Now if we could get some of our brother priests to do likewise...WOW!---just think what ideas they might come up with?! They might actually start walkin the walk! Thank you for your post...it is appreciated! In His Holy Name, Your poor brother, +Gregory, priestmonk
+Father Archimandrite Gregory, who asks for your holy prayers!

Dear Father Stephanos, I understand that a "heretic" today is someone who doesn't like the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life!" Those are the same people who consider the Rosary a devotion that "seems to last for five decades." Alex

Alex Hmmm! Could it be that those who like "It's a Wonderful Life" are hopelessly sentimental romantics? And the rosary lasts for five decades? Again, hmmmm. I can't make it through the 1st decade before putting it aside for my Jesus prayer rope. I guess I am just not a romantic or a Latin wannabe. All kidding aside, that movie and that devotion are not for everyone.
