I'm happy to announce that Dr Alex Roman has written an article on the Virgin Mary for my blogsite Pontifications:
The Immaculate Conception and Holiness of the Mother of God in East and West [pontifications.classicalanglican.net]

gtJC!

thanks for the link. this comes at a very needed time.

There are TWO really genuinly nice people I have been praying for... with the intention that our Eternal Father just clonks over the head with the Truth of our Blessed Mother. (one is a 7th Day Adventist, and the other is Catholic?!?) Both basically present the same sola scriptura argument. The Catholic gentleman goes further to say that he does not believe that all ex-cathedra is real - yadda yadda yadda.

Please pray for my intensions - I don't want to give the names of these two gentlemen.

toodles & God bless, sUSAn

I am once again happy to announce that I have been able to re-post Dr Roman's article on the Theotokos on my present blog: Eclectic Orthodoxy [afkimel.wordpress.com].

I lost touch with Alex many years ago. Does he still visit the Byzantine Forum?

Just an additional note that among the Orthodox devotees of the "Conception of St Anne" was, of course, the great spiritual writer and teacher Saint Dimitri of Rostov.

He wore a medal of the Immaculate Conception (and there are all kinds of versions of this, usually depicting the Most Holy Theotokos with a quarter moon under her feet, a crown of twelve stars, surrounded by Light etc.). He had also taken the vow to defend the holy Conception of the Mother of God to the death and frequently prayed the prayer "All Immaculate Theotokos, save us!"

He also prayed a "Hail Mary" at the turn of every hour, even throughout the night. He prayed the Rule of the Theotokos of 150 Hail Mary's daily and many other prayers to the Theotokos. Finally he asked that he be interred in a Church dedicated to the holy Conception of Saint Anne.

His deep spirituality, including his great veneration for the Most Holy Theotokos, left its profound imprint in all his sermons and writings, especially in his Lives of the Saints which can be purchased from Chrysostom Press for those who are interested! (I don't get a kick-back from them at all - they just do a great job).

Alex
