It's an exhortation, not a fact.
I met the 5-7 (not sure of the actual number) seminarians from ACROD this weekend at the Metropolitan Cantor Insititute. I know some of them already, so it was a happy reunion.
If you've read Metropolitan Nicholas's letter about his trip to Uzhorod this summer, you can see that the time is ripe for us to heal old wounds and foment unity instead of discord.
http://www.acrod.org/mn/journeytouzhorod.html By sending his seminarians to study with us Catholics our common musical tradition, Metropolitan Nicholas is making real the sentiments he expressed in his letter. I for one am encouraged by all of this.
My proposition is that this year, during the Great Fast, Sunday Vespers should alternate between Byzantine Catholic parishes and ACROD parishes.
We (in the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh) already do this in the Byz. Archeparchy, with Metropolitan Basil attending each Sunday's Vespers. We can easily share our musical heritage if we were to alternate between jurisdictions, with both Heirarchs attending, and with perhaps light refreshments to follow. ByzCaths would get to enjoy the Presov style prostopinije, and our Orthodox brethren can enjoy our Mukacevo style prostopinije. (I think I got that right...)
I encourage us all to do our part to bring some unity to our Church!
