Hi, Tammy! Thanks for your help! smile

I was wondering, where can I find a Byzantine Catholic prayer book??? All I seem to find are Orthodox prayer books. Where did you get yours, if you don't mind my asking?..

This book can be had from the Byzantine Seminary Press. There is now a web site: www.byzantines.net/byzantinepress [byzantines.net]

Dear Donna,

The Orthodox prayerbooks are good too!

In fact, they are, or should be, the standard of what should be contained in BC prayerbooks.

Dear Donna,

Don't mention it . . . wink

I used to follow the Jordanville prayerbook as my ultimate standard.

Then I discovered the Old Rite prayerbook from Erie, PA.

There are always those who are more "Orthodox" than the Orthodox you know!

Alex's statement is pretty much correct, I am in a constant flux trying to get comfortable with prayer books, using one section from different books to fill my needs. Its like the bible, use one NT and OT Septuagint.

Somedays it drives me a little............you know.

PS- I was surprized to find the Filioque bracketed in the Byzantine Seminary book.

Dear Jakub,

The Ruthenians are slowly coming out of Latinizations . . .

As for me being "pretty much correct," - that's the story of my life smile

Authentic Eastern Churches should not have pews in the first place (and for that matter the Latin Church) I believe they are an invention of the Protestants.
Stephanos I

PS Anyone have an idea on where they came from?

"Father Deacon" is not a solecism, it is a perfectly correct, courteous way of addressing a deacon or refering to him (e.g. - "Father Deacon, here's a kilo of incense" or "Father Deacon tells me that the parish needs a kilo of incense"). When addressing or referring to other clergy of the appropriate rank, one properly says "Father Archpriest", "Father Archimandrite", and so on. When "Father" stands alone, it is assumed that the person thus addressed or denominated is a presbyter (a priest of second rank - a Bishop is a priest of first rank). Incognitus
P.S. To enter the church edifice properly, one goes through the door into the building!

Donna,

If you ever visit St. Anne's Byzantine Ruthenian parish in San Luis Obispo, stay for the fellowship hour downstairs after Divine Lturgy. They have a wonderful little bookstore full of icons, and I think that's where I got my prayerbook.

Or you might find it at St. Anne's Melkite parish down the road from St. Mary's (didn't you say in another post you attend St. Mary's?). They have a "bookstore" they bring into the fellowship hall - last I heard it was on alternating Sundays, but it's been awhile since I've been there - and they might carry the prayerbook too.
