Neil:

Thanks for the link. Actually with a little more looking around, I found an expanded article with pictures of a stack of these altar breads in our diocesan newspaper. They are said to be individually hand-made.

In Christ,

Celiac Disease

This thread has been dormant, but I am new to the site and so I will post anyway. My wife has celiac disease. When we belonged to a Roman Catholic Parish, she was a Eucharistic Minister. She routinely received the Precious Blood only. Later, she obtained low gluten hosts from the Benedictine Sisters in Clyde, Missouri (see: http://www.benedictinesisters.org/altarbread/orderform.html )
and the priest consecrated them at Mass for her and any other celiacs in attendance. It worked well.

Now we belong to a Byzantine Parish. The priest is aware of her condition and gives her the Precious Blood only. It works real well for us. Both our Byzantine priest and the RC priests at our old parish were very cooperative and understanding.

Every couple of years there is an article about a celiac child and First Communion whose parents are creating a fuss. It always seems to me that the parents have an agenda. BEst wishes to everyone.

Logos Teen,

If the mother told the Vatican that her daughter wanted to become a married priest, then the response would be immediate.
