(Cleveland -WABC, October 7, 2005) - Thieves, apparently hoping to make a buck, reportedly peeled the copper covering off one of the domes atop Ohio's oldest Russian Orthodox church - with plans to sell the metal for scrap. "Who could steal from God?" said Ted Lentz, the church caretaker, as he looked up at the damage Wednesday. rest of article here: http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=bizarre&id=3514404 Gaudior, appalled

That is absurd! Lord have mercy! I wonder if they don't know the difference between copper and gold.

I would be willing to give them the hundred dollars if they would return the copper for the dome!
A copper penny for their thoughts on this one.

I wonder if they don't know the difference between copper and gold. As the copper would have been green, I suspect they had a clue Gaudior, who marvels at how desperate for drug money some people can get

This story reminds me of a similar story told to me my my about-to-retire Pastor Father Bob Skurla of St. Mary's Byzantine here in Jersey City.
He recounted an event that happpened about a dozen years ago where he was going out to the Altar to start the Liturgy when he saw this brillant light shinning from the rear of our dark temple. He quickly realized it wasn't the Second Coming of the Good Lord, but the fact that the doors were taken in the night.
History repeats itself.
