My blood type is also AB.

AB blood is only possessed by 3% of the population. The blood on the Shroud and all other Holy Relics of Our Lord is AB- which only comprises 3% of all AB types.

I am AB+
Dr Eric,

So what are you trying to tell us here? biggrin

I've got rare blood, but not as rare as Our Lord and Our Lady. AB is known as the Universal Acceptor... Interesting

Dr. Eric,

Not to derail my own thread, but your statement got me thinking. You mention the blood type of Our Lady; as I understand it, no relics of the Theotokos have ever been found, a testament to her Assumption/Dormition. Does the child always have the same blood type as the mother? I figure a doctor might know! smile

God bless,

Chris

Fr. Anthony,

I meant that Our Lord is the Universal Acceptor!

Thepeug,

I am guessing that since Our Lord has no human father that he would naturally get all of his DNA from Our Lady and hence she would also have AB- blood too. I guess she'll let us know in Heaven when we get there!

True, but interestingly enough, there is at least one relic of the Theotokos associated with her still in existence, that being Our Lady's sash or cincture. It is presently housed at the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi on Mt. Athos.

A good article about this holy relic is found at:

Dr Eric,
Not intending to disagree, but perhaps you can explain why there isn't therefore a problem about the X and Y (sex-determining) chromosomes? It's puzzled me before.

Highlander,

In lower organisms like paramecia and amoebae all cells are "female" in that they have no sex they just split into "daughter cells." Naturally this could happen, but then Our Lord would have to be a female. As he was circumcised according to Jewish law, this cannot be the case.

So there had to be a genetic manipulation of one of Our Lady's ova so that Our Lord could be born a male. There was some sort of Supernatural "seed" implanted in her ovum. (I'm not comfortable writing about this, as there was a thread on Jimmy Akin's blog discussing how Our Lord came out of her and if her Virginity was preserved during His Birth. Needless to say, the discussion got pretty descriptive, and I don't we should be discussing her "parts" like that.)

But I think that's how it was done, although we'll never know until we get to Heaven.

God Bless You,

Dr. Eric

P.S. There can be only one... wink

Thanks, Dr Eric.
As I expected, the answer (in both cases) to the question "How could that work?" is "We really have no idea."
I settled for that before, and I'll just have to do so again.
As for heaven, I suppose that scientific curiosity will be lost in the wonder of the union with God, and these questions will no longer seem interesting.
Hope to meet you there!
