Today, our Ruthenian Byzantine Church welcomed the Prelate for the Armenian Orthodox parish that uses our church when they have a priest in town.
A Prelate is the equivalent of a Cardinal.

The local Coptics used our church, also, until they were able to build their own.

Our priest told us today that our parish is known at the Vatican for its ecumenical efforts.

God bless our parish for many years:

Hi, Denise,

This is good news. Amazing, the Vatican knows you/we exist! Amazing, the Vatican knows something about a Byzantine parish! Amazing!!! biggrin

Until today, many thought we were invisible to those eyes.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Oh, and I forgot, we have also had a Roman Rite parish use our church until they built their own.

Funny I think of our Orthodox brothers before I think about our Roman brothers!

It must have something to do with the parish name.

And all Epiphany Byzantine Catholic Churches everywhere.

To Stuart --- ahhh, yes, as I recall you are from Epiphany in Virginia...... (sometimes we remember your parish during Liturgy)

To ChristTeen 287 -- where do you live? Please come visit us in Roswell.

God bless all of you

And we you, particularly on our shared patronal feast. I must make a pilgrimmage to your parish, the "Mother of Churches"--maybe in conjunction with a visit to that other "Mother of Churches" in Cary, NC.

You have provided a home for Armenians, Copts, and Roman Catholics. Three parishes can trace their roots to you. Usually we are the ones depending on the kindness of strangers.

I take that as quite a compliment!
I think our priest is proud, in a humble way, that we have been the "mother" of other churches.

Denise,

You have every reason to be proud of your church. For years, I used to look forward to visits with my in-laws because they were less than a half-hour down the road from Epiphany. Alas, they have now moved to within 10 minutes of the Ukrainians in Conyers. Next time we are visiting, I will have to make the trek back to Epiphany. It is truly a prayerful haven in the midst of Atlanta sprawl.

Dear EJKlages
Thank you, I am proud of my parish.
I used to live 5 minutes from Epiphany, then we move 30 minutes away. It was the saddest thing for me to move so far.....
I dread if we ever move even further when we are retirement age.
My dream, as a mom, is for my daughter to be married there (okay, she's only a high school freshman!), so that she would have received all
her sacraments there. Wouldn't it be a nice gift to our priest, a photo grouping of him giving/administering all the sacraments to her --
from Baptism to Crowning! I'm a bit sentimental.

Let Father know when you are visiting and I am sure he will announce you at sermon time.
He loves visitors
