Thanks so much! I am sitting here looking at the icon and the church with my mouth hanging open. OH MY! Such an awesome site to see the inside of that cathedral, it must give great joy to God.

I heard the following brief story about the icon on the radio this morning. It is slightly innacurate in some respects, but interesting none the less. http://www.npr.org/features/feature.php?wfId=3063021

Would be nice if an authentic reproduction were done. Firstly for the promotion of devotion to the Mother of God and Secondly to raise money for the Church (to be used for the care of orphans and elderly )where the Most Holy Theotokos of Tikhvin resides.

Authentic, in the sense of an exact reproduction of the original. It is sad to say but true their gain is our great loss. We praise you, we bless you and we give you thanks O our God! Long may the Theotokos watch over the people of Russia and in particular Tikhvin. Stephanos I

Hi everyone,
Some folks from our parish went. They said it was beautiful!!! I could not go.I was on babysitting duty. The services were a bit too long for a wiggly 6 year old.So maybe there's a trip to Russia in my future!

Hi Baba,
Good to see that you're still reading here, even if you don't post as often as before.
Happy 4th and sorry you didn't get to make the trip for what looks to have been a very beautiful and holy event.
Many years,
Neil

Salva Isusu Kristu,
I too have been following this amazing story. Seeing the coverage and the obvously large crowds that followed Our Lady wherever she went, I am wondering if the the reports of Europe becoming post-Christian are overstated.
Most Holy Lady Theotokos, save me a sinner...
Dmitri
