And me!

O Lord and Master of my life.
Keep from me the spirit of indifference and discouragement,
lust of power and idle chatter.

Instead, grant to me, your servant,
the spirit of wholeness of being,
humble-mindedness, patience and love.

O Lord and King,
grant me the grace to be aware of my sins
and not to judge my brother,
for You are blessed,
now and ever, and forever. Amen.

A blessed season of the Great Fast to all!

"Why should I perform this rite when I have no 'enemies'? Why should I ask forgiveness from people who have done nothing to me, and whom I hardly know? To ask these questions, is to misunderstand the Orthodox teaching concerning forgiveness. It is true, that open enmity, personal hatred, real animosity may be absent from our life, though if we experience them, it may be easier for us to repent, for these feelings openly contradict Divine commandments. But, the Church reveals to us that there are much subtler ways of offending Divine Love. These are indifference, selfishness, lack of interest in other people, of any real concern for them -- in short, that wall which we usually erect around ourselves, thinking that by being 'polite' and 'friendly' we fulfill God's commandments. The rite of forgiveness is so important precisely because it makes us realize -- be it only for one minute -- that our entire relationship to other men is wrong, makes us experience that encounter of one child of God with another, of one person created by God with another, makes us feel that mutual 'recognition' which is so terribly lacking in our cold and dehumanized world."

Father Alexander Schmemann's Introduction to the DRE/OCA 1975-1982 Forgiveness Sunday Vespers.

And may God and everyone else forgive me for my excessive "prudence", otherwise known as lack of generosity, and all my other multiple faults...

Glory to Jesus Christ!

Forgive me, and pray for me!

(Missed Forgiveness Vespers for the first time in years. I have had no voice for well nigh a week, and incence hurts. Had to go to the Dominican church Sunday morning & make like a mouse. I can't go to my own church & not sing. What a penance.... Waaaaahhh!!)

After this traumatic day I feel that I must beg forgiveness of all here.

It is indeed time to turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel

If I have offended any of you , in what I have written, or what was implied but not actually stated in anything I have posted then I humbly ask your pardon and forgiveness. If I have caused any pain, anger or hurt I beg forgiveness

Glory to Him Forever!

What a wonderful idea to extend forgiveness amongst our cyber-friends!

I too ask you each to forgive me if I have offended any of you...and I extend my forgiveness (God's forgiveness shared with me, really!) freely to all on this great forum.

May God bless us all during this Fast, and lead us with His support, helped by His Holy Spirit, to the Joy of Pascha, renewed and strengthened in grace with Him at our side and in our hearts!

Please say a little prayer for me, as I will for you!

God bless you,
Liz

I like that, cyber-friends!

I also beg your pardon and mercy for my failings toward you and the church.

I thank God for all of you, each of you represents Jesus in a very special way. I am reminded of the monk who made the sign of the cross each time he passed someone. When asked why, his reply was because each person was made in the image and likeness of Christ.

Please keep shining the Light of Christ for everyone to see this Lent, that those who do not know Jesus may desire to join us at the celebration of His Ressurection, procaiming "He is Truly Risen!"

In Christ,
Rose

I, a most sinful monk, beg forgiveness from any and all that I have offended or sinned against in any way. I fall before the Lord of the Universe and weep over my sins; and they are many. Please, my brothers and sisters, pray to God for me. I promise to pray for all of us on this forum as we seek God, fail, seek God, fail and fail some more but keep rising each day intending to do better. May God have mercy on us all!
