It seems that as of late Eastern Europe has become the Mecca of Protestant missionaries.

I recall reading of one missionary family that went to Romania and wound up becoming Orthodox. As it turned out, it was they who were in need of the truth.

The Old Ritualists are not derived from Russian Orthodoxy; they are Russian Orthodox.

As to the Blue Army / World Apostolate: they are responsible for a most beautiful Byzantine chapel at Fatima which deserves to be encouraged and used even more. Russia continues to be in need of prayer - as do all the rest of us.

Dear Dr. Eric you said:

Now I've read that Pius XII also consecrated the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Sister Lucia said it wasn't enough, that Russia had to be mentioned specifically. John Paul II repeated the same consecration that Pius XII performed and
I say:

If I recall correctly, at Fatima our Lady said that the Pope must consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart together with all the bishops of the world. The way I perceived it was that Pope Pius XII did not ask 'all' the bishops of the world to pray with him...so Lucia therefore said it was not enough. Of course this is what I gathered from everything I read...I might be wrong! confused

I also recall reading that Pope John Paul II asked not only the RCC bishops, but Orthodox bishops as well as all the religious leaders of the Protestants to pray with him. smile

Again I state that I might be wrong, and it might be merely my assumptions...but this is how I recall events.

Maybe we should organize a pilgrimage to Fatima. Don't laugh: our chapel there is spacious and magnificent; the Blue Army hospice has high standards (better than many hotels I've stayed in over the years) and serves wonderful meals; the shrine is nice; it's convenient to the sea, which is gorgeous, and to the wonderful library at the University of Coimbra, and the plane service to Lisbon is good. Anyone interested? Reservations are unobtainable on the 12-13th of the month during the pilgrimage season, but are otherwise usually to be had. Priests should be aware that they must carry an ecclesiastical document.
