Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

The funeral will be this Wednesday and Thursday, at St. George's Cathedral in Saskatoon, SK.
He was (and still is) a good and holy man.
Christ is Risen, Vladyko!

Would anyone who is able to attend the funeral be so kind as to light some candles for those of us who are not able to be present?

I knew Bishop Filevich in Thunder Bay ( Ontario ) when he was pastor at Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of the Exultation of the Holy Cross.
A very gentle man and pastor and friend to all Greek Catholic and Orthodox alike.
May his menory be eternal! Khrestos Voskrese

Memory Eternal!
I knew Vladyka when he was parish priest at the cathedral in Toronto.
We even went to York University so he could serve a Divine Liturgy for the RC community there.
He was especially devoted to reading the Word of God and kept MANY little New Testaments and Psalms in his office that he would give away and I had one.
He also loved to sit back in prayer and just repeat, "Glory to You, O God, glory to You!" over and over again.
He also personally ordained a married priest in his Eparchy . . . making quite the stir.
He didn't see why he couldn't do it and later said that many RC priests contacted him to say, "Well done, Bishop, well done!"
We can all agree on that!
Memory Eternal to Vladyka Kyr Basil!
Alex
