What do the teens think?

This must have been presented on Good Morning America. Thought it was interesting.

I'm a Catholic Youth Minister, and this is a bad idea. We listen to music and sing and stuff outside of the mass, but lets face it Jesus calls us to a conversion that wouldn't embrace our current culture. Unfortunatly most Protestant and some Catholics think of God as a commodity that can be placed on the market.

I don't understnad what is bad about this. Today it's rock concerts because that is what teens are into but tomorrow or next year or in five years we are going to be somewhere else doing something else that won't be a rock concert that isn't so"popular"but you know how we got there? By going to concerts by being involved and growing as a youth group. We need to get out there and see the world otherwise we can't change it. To some kids Jesus may be a fad but when they stick around long enough they realize that he has more to ffer then we could ever dream. Everyone needs a starting point and i think this is it.

If this is done in moderation then you are right it is fine, but the truth is I have talked to several Youth Ministers in my area and very little of there ministry is Christian education. This is what worries me, the lack of education, if Christianity is just a show then it will not move the hearts of the youth. They will grow tired of it like every other trend in there lives.
