IPS Florentin Crihalmeanu has been enthroned Bishop of the Eparchy of Cluj-Gherla.
IPS Florentin will replace Bishop George Gutiu, who retired in August.
The Divine Liturgy took place in the Cathedral of Cluj (a former Orthodox cathedral).
The solemn Liturgy, conducted by Metropolitan Lucian, acompanied by Patriarch Lubomyr of Ukraine, the Romanian Orthodox Bishop Bartolomeu Anania, Bishop Jean Claude Perisset (representative of HH John Paul II), was followed by a Procesion.

Okay, Patriarch Lubomyr looks the most authentic...except when he wears a suit.

Question: Do Romanian Greek Catholic Bishops wear the small omophorion throughout the entire Divine Liturgy? Do they ever put on the large omophorion or simply have no omophorion on during parts of the Divine Liturgy?

Also, is it a common practice to read the Gospel facing north?

Met him some six years ago at Orientale Lumen I. A very impressive and holy bishop, even as auxiliary. Eis pola eti, Despotin!

Thanks for the news and links.

Wonderful.

Come, Holy Spirit!

Like Stuart, I had the privilege of meeting Bishop Florentin at that same Lumen Orientale Conference and was deeply impressed by him. He gave a wonderful sermon, too, at one of the liturgical services.

May God richly bless his episcopal ministry and his Church!

Ad multos annos!

You're right on that one - he should stick with a riassa!.

Speaking of clothing, what's with the Romanian Greco-Catholic bishops wearing the Latin biretta?

Isn't a zuchetto a small zuchinni? Or is that a large one? wink

Seriously, mea culpa on the headgear mix-up. I've just come to grips with all the terminology for what our clergy should be wearing -- really haven't spent any time looking at Roman stuff.

Another Blessed event brought down to earth. All of us can agree that Bishops wear funny hats.

I've always found it more important to rebuild the Church behind the former Iron Curtain than to argue over what kind of funny hat.

Besides, what good is the Bishop's authority if he can't decide what kind of hat is the right one? Or did all the Apostles wear the same kind?

Many years to Bishop Florentin !!!

Have a Blessed Day !!!

I have to agree with John.

I know we are all having fun, and I like to have fun also. But, the Church in Romania is in a real bad position right now. As a member of the Romanian Catholic Eparchy here in the US, we all should pray for the church and their struggle with what is left of communism.
