Please pray for Father Daniel Bitsko who was fired by Bishop Pataki after 38 years of faithfull
service to the Church of the Resurrection in Smithtown Long Island, New york on October 2.
Father Bitsko is an icon to his parishoners and
the entire Smithtown community because of his
community service as Chaplain to various organizations such as the Smithtown Fire department and other community service organizations.
No reason was given by the Bishop to the over 300
Family parish that was started by Father Bitsko
over 38 years ago.
Father Hospodar is now the administrator.

Prayers for Father Daniel, who was recently honored by the Suffolk County (NY) Volunteer Firefighters Emerald Society for his services to the firefighting community.

Many years,

Neil

Thank you for the lovely article. My, he has been busy going forth to share God's Word outside of the Church.

May our Good God continue to bless Father Daniel Bitsko with much enjoyment in his retirement, with many years of peace, health, and happiness.

Please pray for our parishes on Long-Island. With Hospodar administering Smithtown I don't see that situation lasting very long. Unfortunately, even more immediately I ask for prayers for St. Andrew the Apostle BC Church in Westbury, NY which was administered by Fr. Bitsko as well (at least I believe he still did). Coming on the heels of HT in Bridgeport, CT that does not give me good feelings. Keep watch...does George Malitz get removed from St. John's in Trumbull...based on the scandal in Bridgeport and the news articles that went with it...and simply moved to a parish such as one of the two in Long Island. To all of a sudden find out those parishes are no longer able to make it.

Sorry, I was wondering where that went to. I was trying to upload it to use as an avatar. Oh well, hopefully Alice will find it soon and fix it.

Dear, in Christ,

May I respectfully remind all posters on the prayer forum, that this place is reserved for prayers, requests for prayer, and sometimes, questions about prayer.

Other "news items" and sharing best belongs in other areas of our forum.

with thanks,

the unworthy,
Elias

Tis truly amazing. A priest who built a parish from nothing to over 300 never received the title of Very Reverend. Yet a priest who decimated or several parishes including St Mary in New york City is regarded highly. My message to Hospodar is if you can't make it in NY get out of the business. You are not bringing people to Christ.

Other Eastern Churches are thriving in NYC including St Nicholas (10th Street ACROD) and St George Ukrainine.

My message to Pataki is stop rewarding those who are not spreading the faith

Pray for Bishop Pataki. He has made a very tough decision to fire a man. He is not in the business of firing his priests for doing good deeds. There is obviously a reason why Daniel Bitsko was fired. The Bishop is not talking about the reason, so what does that tell you. Remember, Daniel Bitsko is a man, not Jesus reincarnated. He is flesh and blood just like you and I. A man who performs good deeds and has a good heart does not get himself fired for doing just that. Please do not speculate what is in the Bishop's heart when you do not know what transpired? There are only two people who know for sure what happened, the Bishop, and Daniel Bitsko, and neither seem to be speaking up. One of the two involved actually left town and left all of his people behind without a fight. I do not know what happened either, but the facts speak for themselves. You can choose to disagree with the Bishop, but disagree on facts, not speculation. Only time will tell what happened. May God bless all involved.

With all due respect, you are as guilty of speculating in making this statement as anyone else in this thread.

Yes, indeed, pray for Bishop Pataki. But pray also for those who have been placed in his care.

In Christ,
Theophilos

Dear, in Christ,

Offering prayers for all those involved in these difficult decisions.

This 'prayer' thread is confined to prayers, request for prayers, or sometimes, discussion about prayer.

Since there has been more 'general' discussion on this topic, it will be closed.

Please feel free to begin another topic for prayer in this section, or a more general topic in another appropriate area of this forum.

the unworthy,
Elias
