Douglas, 16, the son of our Deacon-candidate Brian, has been diagnosed with brain tumors in both hemispheres and all around the brain. He had surgery for a biopsy and we are still waiting for results.

Our Parish will begin a Novena to Blessed Karl of Austria, to whom the family has a great devotion, this Sunday 21 Aug 05 to pray for a cure. Please join us if the Holy Spirit moves you to do so.

(For info on Blessed Karl, go to
Blessed Karl [facweb.stvincent.edu]

or the new site New Blessed Karl site [blessedemperorcharles.info] ).

Peace and gratitude,

Talitha

Lord Jesus time and again on this forum we have witnessed you mighty deeds of healing. Let Talitha's prayers and those around her be for naught. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, we remind you of your Scripture for today.
"And when [Jesus] had entered, he said to them, Why do you make a tumult and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping. And they laughed at him. Taking her by the hand he said to her, "Talitha cumi"; which means, Little girl, I say to you, arise. And immediately the girl got up and walked (she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. (Mark 5:39, 40a, 41, 42 Fourteenth Friday after Pentecost)

Sweet Jesus, what could thow have done for us that thou has not done. Knowing that you have done this for us already, we come to you, asking with expectant faith - knowing that you will act in agreement with your word. For Jesus you are the great physician, the healer of man's soul, there is none other like you. So we come to you knowing that you will do as you say, wiping our tears away as we shout for joy, Hosanna in the Highest, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Amen.

Offf........

May our Risen Lord Jesus Christ, Son and Word of the Living God, have much mercy upon Douglas.

Dear God, have mercy also on Douglas family, on all the community, and on Talitha and all of her. Amin.

Dear Talitha,

I have an Eastern Akathist service to Bl. Karl (which I'm preparing to send to a member of NASA right now!).

If you like, I can send you a copy as well - if you will PM me a mailing address.

Thank you everyone for your kind prayers. We began the novena to Bl. Karl of Austria yesterday and continue to pray in confidence for a miracle in this young man's life.

Alex, I sent you a PM with the parish's address so the Akathist can go directly to Douglas' father. May God bless you abundantly for your generosity.
