At one time I had asked for prayers for a girl who was a cutter... and I expressed that I long to help her - but no opportunity was presenting itself. Providence had not arranged it.
For months - she was confined to different institutions and I am not family that I could visit. In fact, I do not know her well at all. I hardly know her at all.
She is out now - and as things would have it she has been over my house for a visit with my son, twice, in the past two days.
With that, I have been breaking the ice. Just idle chat so far. As I would do with any of my sons friends (I have three sons).
Now I ask you to please, pray for me - because it appears to be a possibility that Providence might arrange the heart to heart talk that would be needed.
I will keep my eyes on Providence - and see what God does here. So if the time comes that I see Providence has made the arrangements for a heart to heart - I ask for your prayers. I have no fears of failing God - because God does not need me at all to do his work for him... my fears would be that I fail myself or I fail the girl by expecting too much or expecting too little. One must be entirely honest, and listen very intently for this kind of talk. More than me talking to her I need her to talk to me - and say those things she hesitates to talk about at all.
May I be ready for this if it comes.
Just one mention of me to God will be plenty. Your prayers need not continue or be every day. One short mention would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Ray, I had a very similar experience in my life. A person that I knew was in need of help and as I saw it back then, I was the one, thorough God, to be the help that he needed. I prayed for ways and means to be God's light to this person. It ended up that I was helped! Not even knowing that I was in any need. God has wonderful ways of doing things. I will certainly be praying for her as having 6 teenagers myself (5 boys and a girl) it hits at the heart. Mark

Prayers for this young girl. May she find hope in Christ, the Lover of all, who heals all by His wounds.

Jason, some others and myself have had the opportunity in chat to help and pray with several young women for healing from self-mutilation. It is a really hard road to hoe, but in the end we have been blessed to share in the joy of seeing them healed and serving God. You have all prayed for them here on the Forum - Amber and Katie. Thank you!
So Ray we can testify as did Marcus, that God prepares the way. There is no anticipation or preparation that can take place except prayer.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. --Philippians 4:6
Do not fear; for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. --Isaiah 41:10
Ask, and it shall be given to you; Seek, and you shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you. --Matthew 7:7
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, we can do nothing without your grace. Grant peace to Ray , and to your Child may the light of Christ shine upon her. That she would be a radiant servant of yours, one who would shine as a light at the top of the hill, guiding others into your safe harbor of love. Amen.
