Alex,
I do not mean to offend, I only speak my own experience, in part based on posts like the one written by Ipreima...

"The future Patriarchate our other friend is talking about will hopefully result in a unified, Canonical UKRAINIAN Orthodox Catholic Patriarchate based in Kyiv."

And what will it be Orthodox or Catholic???

"That some Ukrainian Catholics and Orthodox love each other despite their faith differences because they are brothers and sisters of the same nation and culture, well, that's not my fault!"

It is not about them loving each other, it is about putting nationality and etnicity before faith.

I don't care if it's unified, I don't care if it's Canonical (if by this word you mean recognized by Constantinople), and I don't care if it's Ukrainian, AS LONG AS IT'S ORTHODOX!!!

Dear Friend,

Of course, it will be Orthodox?

Is there any other way? wink

Orthoman and other Orthodox Christians make it a point to call themselves "Orthodox Catholic."

I was simply imitating their style.

Putting one's culture ahead of one's religion?

I think there is no one simple answer to that.

As I said, for very many years, Ukrainians fought each other over religion.

Perhaps it is time they learned to be civil to one another.

Arab Christians too, Catholic and Orthodox, live closely together, as I understand.

While I don't condone intercommunion, I AM in support of Catholics and Orthodox living side by side as the servants of Christ they should always be.

Speaking as an Orthodox of the Catholic Communion of the particular Kyivan Tradition, "Rite" On Alex and Ipreima! Thanks for that kind note on the music Ipreima, if you ever need anything, let me know...I was a diak long before I started preparing for the Diaconate and spreading good music in our churches will always be a love.

Orthodox SWE, we were Kyivan Christians together long before there was the historical millieu that precipitated the division of the two,and the Union of Brest. Not Ukrainian, Kyivan. The Ukrainian thing came later on.

I can see your possible confusion, but the Ukrainian Orthodox and Catholic are both heirs to the Kyivan tradition. It is not the "ethnic" property of the Ukrainians but the spiritual and ecclesiological patrimony of these persons descended from historic Kyivan Rus'. The Kyivan Tradition is universal, but is especially the patrimony of those descendants of its ecclesiological hierarchy.

Instead of siding with an ecclesiological "Johnny" (or Ivanko?) come-lately, i.e. Moscow, who has enjoyed the luxury of armed support for centuries, who in fact actually received its heritage from Kyiv, we consciously choose to remain with the legitimate church of origin of our Christian ancestors, from whence they received Christianity, and not take the path of the usurper.

Back on track...Since Anthony Khrapovistky is so prominent in the history of the ROCOR I don't see how anyone except the ROCOR would canonize him...he seems to have had rocky relations with the Muscovite hierarchy. God bless you all.

Diak,
I would like to thank you for the information that you passed on to me about the book "Tserkovni Spive" by Volodymyr Holovka. I have a freind whose brother-in-law is going to Ukraine next month and I asked him to try and get me the book so that I could start working on it with the male choir we have here in Brazil. Maybe we will learn the whole liturgy in 12 months. Once again thanks.

The Copts do not just venerate Coptic Saints. I visited the Coptic Church in Wash,DC recently and was surprised to see a picture of St. Therese, the "Little Flower" there.

Dear Mikey,

Was it Coptic Orthodox or Coptic Catholic? The latter would definitely have veneration for other Catholic, non-Coptic saints.

If it was Coptic Orthodox with an icon of St Therese, then that is ecumenical news indeed!

Dear Friends,

I have just received an e-mail from Archbishop Lazar Puhalo from the site I listed.

He informs me that Antony Khrapovitsky was glorified in his own Archdiocese which is union with the OCA.
