To all:

I just received this prayer request from a dear friend of mine. This prayer request comes from one of her friends. She writes:

Can you pray for my friend Nikki Daer. She had her baby girl last night but the baby was not breathing. The doctor has told them they are not sure she is going to make it but even if she does, she will have brain damage.

Jenna was born between 3:00 and 4:00 this morning. When they realized she wasn't breathing they took her to the ICU.

Jenna is on a ventilator and her color is good, but she has yet to breathe on her own.
It will probably be Monday before specialists begin evaluating Jenna's condition. She could be perfectly normal or she could have serious difficulties such as cerebral palsy.

Nikki seems at peace with the prospect of having a special needs baby. She said she'll be up for the challenge if that's what God calls her to do. She desperately wants Jenna to survive whether healthy or with handicaps. Nikki will be in the hospital for 48 hrs. She's doing fine healthwise. Nikki was in good spirits.

Sweetest Jesus you told your deciples "suffer not the little children to come unto me." Jesus with the greatest of urgency in our minds we bring this tiny life, this awesome soul created by your Father to you. We ask that you pray over Jenna and her family too Jesus as you laid your hands upon the children that were brought to you. And as with the captians daughter who you healed because of his faith, do also with this child of God. Remove any possible brain damage and give to her the fullness of life that you have for Jenna and her family. Let them see your miracles in her day. In the name of Jesus, amen.

My prayers are for the baby, that in loving kindness, The Lord of Love will show this child to be a special chosen vessel. May the Lord grant also the strength and wisdom to properly attend to this child's needs and give her that Love, that the Lord give us each and everyday. May this family grow together spiritually as a witness to Life in Jesus, the maternal Love of the Theotokos, and by the examples and intercessions their patron saints.

Watch we pray O Lord over this innocent life, extend your loving hand from on high and embrace this special one of yours, and reassure the parents of your presence that they would do is be living your gospel not only now but in the time to come. We pray this in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN

In IC XC,
Father Anthony+

Here's an update:

I just received a very sad update from the Daer's. The Doctor just gave them the results of yesterday's test and it did not indicate any brain activity. They will be doing another test tomorrow that will also be looking for brain activity. Dave asked us to pray for a miracle. . .that the Doctors would be astounded at God's power to heal. At the same time Dave was being realistic that Jenna may not pull through. In that event he begged us to pray for Kilee. He said she was looking so forward to having a little sister.

Nikki is to be released from the hospital tomorrow late morning but is planning to stay at the hospital to be close to Jenna. I will let you know more as I find it out and also ways that we can be of assistance to the family.

Thank you for your continued prayers. They have expressed for very much they appreciate them!

May the Good God bless this family with love and his peace. That in accord with the desires of the family, she be healed and brought back to life. For her big sister, may she grow in stature and oneness with the Lord. May she always know his peace as the little child who sits upon his lap, who feels the strength of his love in whatever she does in life. May you be glorified through this awesome family Lord.

Wisdom 4:

7
But the just man, though he die early, shall be at rest.
8
For the age that is honorable comes not with the passing of time, nor can it be measured in terms of years.
9
Rather, understanding is the hoary crown for men, and an unsullied life, the attainment of old age.
10
2 He who pleased God was loved; he who lived among sinners was transported--
11
Snatched away, lest wickedness pervert his mind or deceit beguile his soul;
12
For the witchery of paltry things obscures what is right and the whirl of desire transforms the innocent mind.
13
Having become perfect in a short while, he reached the fullness of a long career;
14
for his soul was pleasing to the LORD, therefore he sped him out of the midst of wickedness. But the people saw and did not understand, nor did they take this into account.
15
3
16
Yes, the just man dead condemns the sinful who live, and youth swiftly completed condemns the many years of the wicked man grown old.

Thank you all for preying for baby Jenna, but I write to let you all know that she did not make it. Here's the last update as of today:

---Please join me in prayer for Nikki and her family. The Doctors confirmed that baby Jenna was brain dead and they were to turn off the ventilator between 3:30 and 4:00 pm.

As mothers I know we ache with the thought of making such a painful decision. I pray God will give them peace and comfort in knowing baby Jenna is in His care. They have been through so much the past few days. I know they are exhausted. Please remember her daughter Kilee (5) and son Billy (3) especially. Her husband's name is Dave.

Again, thank you.
Gretchen

Eternal Memory! May the Lord God send an army of angels to escort baby Jenna into Paradise.

May the Lord God grant comfort to Jenna's parents, Dave and Nikki, her siblings Kilee and Billy, and all the members of her family.
