There are many tensions among us as evidenced in some of the threads. Some of us have even undertaken special periods of reflection about continuing on the forum.

I pray that the Father Who made us to be his children will grant that all of us will join them and pray for them and for ourselves as well. For who among us has earned the right to cast the first stone?

May He grant that we all grow in love for one another. May the Spirit temper our words and enlighten our minds and spirits to enable us to show the love that is the hallmark of the members of the Body of Christ. May that love be shown in respectful words.

May we find that the circle of our forum family not be broken by anger among us. We must speak our truth as did the one Who is the Truth. We are obliged to speak it with His love in our hearts.

May He forgive our weaknesses and our failings. May we follow His example.

May it be so.

Please forgive the reposting, though I guess it won't hurt to pray twice.

Perhaps the administrator can eliminate the second posting.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

I haven't been posting much of late, though I have continued to read/lurk. My prayers are, as always, with all of you.

And, humbly, I offer the following apothegm from Yves Cardinal Congar as "a rule to post by":

"Let our ideas be clear; let us present them in all their rigor. This is a condition of honesty. Let us serve them with all our might. This is the exercise of our courage. But just as we leave a margin on our writing paper for revisions, for corrections, for things not yet found, for the truth for which we can still only hope, let us leave around our ideas the margin of fraternity."

In Christ,
Theophilos

Dear Friends,

I guess this post applies to me as much as to anyone here! wink

It is because of my sensitive nature that I sometimes say I'll leave, but then return.

But, overall, what is important even about the times when we get into our tiffs is that we really DO consider the issues we argue about as being vitally important.

And when you come to think of it, that is, in and of itself, a wonderful statement about the people who argue.

During a university debate about Christianity, the agnostics said that Christians had a history of intolerance etc.

A Jewish professor then spoke up (he didn't like agnostics, you see . . .) and said that this at least showed that Christians took their faith seriously etc.

And that is true enough.

There are times when taboo subjects are raised here that cut to my core, subjects that many feel are insignificant.

But they are significant to others.

The fact that we take time to argue about it shows that ideas can still inspire and enflame.

And, frankly, I think that that indicates that we have not become complacent about what is important to us.

While we shouldn't argue and in an uncharitable manner, the fact that we do is one of the greatest strikes against agnostics and those who think religion and themes associated with it are "dead."

Besides, mental arguments are what make life worth living!

Amen my brother Alex,

During this time of year be it East or West, the Nativity Fast or Advent, we all can say " Come, let us worship the Lord, the King who is to come ".

Dear UIC,

Oh, sorry!

I thought everyone knew that ever since Pope John Paul II was enthroned! smile

It is simply: Glory to Jesus Christ - in Polish, of course.

Laudetur Jesus Christus in Latin, I believe, er, credo . . .
