Please pray for His Eminence the Metropolitan Ioan of Dragoviski, the Hegumen of the Rila Monastery.

He was found unconscious in his cell, and it is believed to have suffered heaby brain aneurysm. He has been taken to a hospital in Sofia (where coincidentally HH Patriarch Maxim has been staying for the last month).

Doctors later said that he suffered from a heavy blood leakage and has fallen into a coma. They do not believe that he will survive long. His Eminence represented the Bulgarian Church as as a guest at the Second Vatican Council.

Please join me in praying for this man of God.

Please pray for Metropolitan Ioan who reposed to the Lord at the age of 80. He headed the Rila Monastery (the holiest place in Bulgaria) for 18 years.

May Hegumen Ioan's sins be forgiven, and may he rest in eternal peace in the Kingdom of our merciful God.

Most Gracious Lord, hear the prayers of your faithful servants for the departed soul of +His Eminence the Metropolitan Ioan of Dragoviski, the Hegumen of the Rila Monastery - may he rest in a place where there is no more pain, no more grief, no more sighing, only life everlasting.

Also Jesus, we lift up HH Patriarch Maxim, may you restore unto him the fullness of health, vitality, that he may rejoice in your wonderous deeds as we enter into the time of your birth. Let there be the sounds of rejoicing from him as he rings in once again - CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!
