Dear Friends,

I'm going through a funny period in my spiritual life.

It's like a life-change or something like that.

I do believe God wants more from me, or else it is that He wishes to teach me more than I have been willing to be taught.

There are times when all I can do is totally abandon myself to Him.

That is not easy, but I've come to realize that it is what is necessary!

My focus is off, but it is important to follow God and be immersed in Him in prayer and meditation to discern what this is all about.

The only thing one can have is a sense of His Presence and that is truly the pearl of great price.

In any event, my school project is what I'm focusing on.

I'm going to cut my pride in half by stopping to pretend that I'm any kind of "teacher" to anyone, however.

I've resigned from "Ukrainian Orthodoxy" and I'm resigning from all other internet situations where that temptation presents itself, including the Byzantine Forum - where there are REAL teachers and guides for the spiritual life! smile

It took a long time for me to come to that conclusion and over many bumps on the way.

There is no reason for me to have posted as many times as I have - most of my posts are, in fact, nonsensical ones, posts to call attention to myself, to express and nurture my pride and to argue with others who dare to disagree with me.

No more of that! (I hope a plenary indulgence will cover this wink ).

The Administrator, Alice, Fr. Elias, Neil, Charles, Bob/Theophan and so many others - you are the Byzantine Forum and God has called you to His special witness here. May you continue to inspire and teach others with your words and example!

I hardly know myself, I'm a different person, at least I feel different.

May we continue to immerse ourselves in God and Christ through the Church via Theosis in the Spirit!

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the intercessions of Your Most Pure Mother and of all Your Saints, have mercy on us and save us, for You are Good and a Lover of Mankind. Amen! Amen! Amen!

Pray for me as I will pray for you, dear, wonderful friends in Christ always!

Your sinful servant who moves on,

Alex Roman

Alex you've taught me a lot anyways and even in that post you taught me something more. I've noticed lately that I'm spending too much time talking to others about God and too little time talking to God about others. I noticed it before and I was going to leave. In your example I see it all the more clearly...

I shall say 9 Memorare's for you Dr Roman and I will miss you all very much.

God love you
Myles

PS) This time its for real wink
PPS) Thanks Bycath, thanks for everything...

Alex? You're leaving too? I hope it is only for a break. You have a good mind, and I have enjoyed your posts, and I hope to see more of your posts. But, if you need to take a break then go for it.

Dear Alex...

Yup... the forum can become a substitute for real prayer and attention to conscience and real spiriotual growth. A side trip into yakking 'about'..

I sent you a private goood bye.

We all need a break for spiritual recollection from time to time.

I know in my heart that both our valued and esteemed posters, Myles and Dr. Alex Roman will be back when the time is right, reinvigorated in their faith, and ready to share their special gifts which we have grown to love!

Until we see (or read...as the case may be) again!

Go with God!

In Christ's love,
Alice

Beloved in Christ, Alex,

Thank you for the compliment, but you also need to add your name to the list. You are an integral part of this forum, and I know of new posters that have told me how much they enjoy your posts, your personality and your wit...so, even though you need to take a hiatus right now, please don't forget this. smile

Fondly,
Alice

My Dear Brother in Christ,
I wondered why you had not posted on the Carmelite site, lately. Your presence and influence have helped (and are needed) greatly in the effort to establish a carmel on the BZ to honor the Theotokos Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. I hold faint hope that you have not also left our little community of four souls. Still, your are more wise than I and ultimately you have to make your own decision.

Rest assured you are in my prayers.

Michael... feeling great loss for the Theotokos and the ICCBF.

Pray without ceasing...

Dear Prior Michael,

In fact, the matter that had depressed me so has just been resolved - thanks be to God.

I have learned a difficult lesson, to let go when a situation demands that this is the course of action.

I have let go and am off a site that I have written for for some years now.

I thank the Administrator especially for his personal advice to me that have helped me in these last few "dark nights of the soul."

I'm proud of what I've done on "Ukrainian Orthodoxy" - but I've left for good. I'm even turning back questions without a second thought! smile

PRAISE BE TO THE HOLY, MIGHTY AND IMORTAL ONE FOR ENLIGHTENING YOU AND FOR BRINGING YOU BACK.
Thanks to the Admionistrator, also.

I notice the ICCBF...accept my thanks on behalf of the Theotokos Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

Pray without Ceasing.
Michael, jumping up and down with glee.

Dear Prior Michael,

The matter put me into a deep depression.

The Administrator told me not to be depressed, to do all I could to resolve the matter amicably, and then, failing all else, to do what had to be done.

And so I did!

The Administrator is a very "cool cat" in more ways than one!

And I like to think I did what every good Carmelite would have done in a similar circumstance!

It is at times when depression hits us that we are to pray all the more, as our Lord did in the Garden, thus setting a great example for us!

Dear Friends,

I do apologise for breaking my word and coming back to post, however . . .

Pray for me again . . .

This is also why I am grateful for indulgences.

I have faith in the members and this forum, and never gave Alex leaving a second thought.

There is much work to due, the harvest is there and ripe, we need all our workers.
