Hello all,
I am new to the forum, but I am taking the chance to ask for prayers for a friend and colleague, Joan. She is suffering from cancer; given a severe dose of chemo, her immune system collapsed 7 weeks ago. Doctors have informed her husband there is nothing left to do now. She is being sent home, presumably to wait the end. She has been ill since 1995 and her experience of this illness has been transforming. She told me, though she was often very scared, that she was not sure she would trade her cancer if it meant losing the spiritual benefits. Please forgive a windy post; I just got news of the decision to halt treatment. Please intercede for her and her husband (they were unable to have children). Husband's name is Edward. Thank you.

Lord when you take her home may she rest where the saints repose and may her husband be in your peace.

I had a friend who died last year about this time of bone cancer. Within 8 months it had totally coverd the bones, including her skull. When radiation was given for her throat she could no longer talk or swallow. I am sharing this to say also that she saw many miracles as a result of her suffering. She had asked the Lord for 3 things, the least and last of which was to go home in six months, she went home 1 week short of that time.

Suffering is not really for us to understand, but know that your friend brought many souls to Christ through the gift of her suffering.

May the Lord be merciful to Joan and grant strength and courage to Edward. May their love and their faith in His love for them sustain them.

Joan is certainly in my prayers! My heart hurts at the suffering and pervasiveness of cancer. I have know way too many people who have had this disease. I pray for all who have it, and for a cure.

O Lord, we know that cancer is a cross that some are called to bear. But we pray with our Lord: if this cross can be taken away from me... but Your will be done.

Lord, please remove the cancer from Your Servant; and give respite from the pain until such time as You remove it. In Your mercy, hear our prayers.

Lord, have mercy.
