Dear beloved in Christ,

Please pray for the members of my monastic community. We are currently being plagued by a nasty strain of stomach/intenstinal flu.

I plus three other confreres came down with it at 1st Vespers for the Mother of God. More have followed, including today our father Abbot. So far about a dozen have been effected. Every hour of the divine office our numbers grow smaller and smaller. frown

Please intercede that this will pass QUICKLY!

May the illness which is plaguing your monastery quickly pass, through the intercessions of our most Blessed Lady Theotokos, and of all the saints you hold dear.

Benedictine:

Christ is Born!! Glorify Him!!!

Lord, visit and heal Your servants who are suffering from the illness that passes through our country this year. We know that You give us all things to turn us time and time again to You. You know our weakness and our complete dependence. Come at this Holy Season when we remember and celebrate Your coming to us in the flesh to share with us all things but sin. Share with these servants of Yours, too, Your healing as You healed so many who had faith in You when You walked among us on earth. Through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother, O Lord, visit these brothers of Yours by Baptism. AMEN.

In Christ,

BOB

May God protect you all!

I just got out of two weeks in the hospital becasue of the respitory flu turning to pneumonia, bhronchitis, and infection.

God please watch over them all. Stay the incidious darts of the evil one from any harm to them and return them to full the fullness of your holy worship.

Dear Benedectine,

May St. Agrippina, the patron saint against bacterial infection (yeah, weird, I know, but it's true), and St. John the Baptist, patron saint of monastic life, intercede for you before the Heavenly Throne.

Benedictine,

Prayers for the quick return to good health of yourself, Father Abbott, and all those of your community so afflicted.

Rose,

Sorry to hear of your illness. Prayers for your speedy return to full health. Welcome back and may your New Year be healthy, happy, and blessed.

Many years,

Neil

Rose,

So glad that you are back and are well. Glory to God!

Can one have bronchitis and pneumonia at the same time? I'm curious, because I thought that if you had one you wouldn't get the other? (I am very curious, because in the past I have had very serious bouts of bronchitis...ever since I started taking large doses of Vitamin C daily, I seem to have evaded it, thanks be to God!)

Dear Alice,

Whenever I get acute bronchitis, it usually turns into pneumonia. One doctor then told me that acute bronchitis is pneumonia in his opinion. Is there a doctor on board?

Pray for me too, as I have a bad sore throad.

My prayers for the Benedictines.

Yours in Christ,
Elizabeth Maria

Dear All,

Thank you for all the prayers and kind remembrances.

Well today we lost a couple more monks - our subprior, acolyte for the week, and guestmaster. Fortunately we have few guests here - and most of them seem to be unaffected.

Also the prior has officially annouced that Epiphany will be observed with less ceremonies than usual. With so many missing - including the Abbot who would preside - there just isn't enough monks left to take all the various ministries. It is a shame too, since it is one of my favorite feasts. frown

I wish all of you good folks a blessed Epiphany/Theophany !!!
