Hello all,

My wife (Sarai whom you all know) and I just found out about a week ago that we are going to be parents in about 8 months. We were thrilled to find out and are very excited. However, she has been really sick the last few days with morning sickness and has been quite miserable. Any prayers that she would start feeling better soon and not have to spend the next 9 months like this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Matthew

Dear Matt,

First of all, congratulations to you and Sarah! smile

My prayers that her pregnancy will not be too uncomfortable and that all will go well. If there ever is a time for intense daily prayer, it is when one is pregnant. Be assured of our prayers coupled with yours and Sarah's.

Most morning sickness will subside by the end of the first trimester. Sometimes it does not, but those whom I know who have had this type of discomfort for the entire duration, have had healthy, beautiful children, despite a severe lack of food intake. Take heart...God provides! smile

With much love in Christ,
Alice smile

My prayers for your wife, baby, and you.

A bit of help - crystallized (candied) ginger root is an excellent remedy for morning sickness and nausea in general.

Pick some up - it will be a huge help to your wife.

God bless.

Through the intercession of St. Gerard Majella may Sarai's pregnancy proceed smoothly and may her morning sickness dissipate.

Lord have mercy on your servant Sarai, protect her in her pregnancy as you protected Sarah of Old. May the birth of her first-born be as joyful as the birth of Isaac, the first-born of Sarah and father of Israel.

The origin of Christianity begins in the heart of God. The Divine nature is Love. Love is not something that comes from God. Love is God and God is love. If a Christian were to name the Divine in English, the best term would be simply "God-Love."

Within God-Love, before time, came an urge to create. This urge was not for pleasure, since God-Love is beyond such things. Rather it was, as Archbishop Joseph Raya says, for the multiplication of love. God created for this reason alone, that love might grow. Divine love by its very nature shares itself....

Lord give ease to this young mother, settle the pangs of her body and bring it all into agreement with your Word Jesus.

Prayers for Sarai, that the Theotokos intercede for her before the Holy Throne, asking an end to her discomfort, that she be able to fully enjoy the beauty of her pregnancy.

Prayers, too, for Matt, that he survive wink the ups and the downs of pregnancy.

Congratulations and welcome to parenthood!

To us, awaiting the first-born was the most exhilirating adventure newly weds could experience!

Including, among others, morning sickness! wink Did you know that there have been cases of fathers-to-be also suffering from morning sickness?

Take heed on the candied ginger root!

Even better, if Sarai can get to liking the pungent taste, peeled and cubed/sliced ginger root in its natural form is the way to go (or pickled in wine vinegar, preferably Italian wink , with a pinch of sugar added to taste).

Or so, as my late maternal grandmother used to advise my wife, who tried it and liked it! And to this day, she continues to have this "delicacy!"

It is extremely good also to preserve one's vocal chords and to ward off sore throats!

(Apologies to Dr. Eric for "prescribing" these alternative remedies! biggrin )

Sarai is my daughter and she and Matt are trying to get care for her as she continues to be very sick. We took her to our family physician today(long story) who gave her an IV drip-she was very dehydrated. Tomorrow she will see an ob/gyn. She is feeling a little better tonight but this may be only temporary relief. Please pray for her health and that of the baby and for her husband as well and for wisdom for all of us.
Thank you all
Michele

AMEN!

New life is your creation Jesus. You called these young people by your name and crowned them with your joy. Let this new life be abundant joy...

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen....

Sarai is feeling much better-she was given nausea medication, which seems to help, but it seems that the re-hydration was really the key to getting her through this difficult time.
The baby is doing great-we actually saw him or her(depending on which Grandma you believe)and all is very well.
Thank God and thank you all for your prayers.

If you have a Sonics drive-in close by, get her some of their power-aid sulsh with juice. My daughter is a massage therapist and they really help to keep her hydrated. She gets the one with cranberry juice.

Thank you Jesus for healing of this precious young mom. Prepare the hearts of these grandmas that may rejoice together at this awesome gift of new life. How wonderful for a young mom - two know that she now has two wonderful moms to help her along the way. Oh Jesus, todays young moms often miss out on that love. I thank you for these! Most Holy Theotokos pray for them.

With prayerful support!

May the Mother of God, Mother of motherhood, help you, and strengthen you, and lighten these symptoms, granting only great peace and joy during the pregnancy.
