My little cat Anna recently had 3 breasts removed because of breast cancer. The vet was hopeful she got it all...but tonight I found two new tumors on other breasts. Pray for Anna that God will keep her from suffering too much. Pray for my vet and I, that we will be able to know the right time to grant her release. Also for me that I may only remember the great joy she has brought me over the years and not the pain of loss when that time comes. Anna was a very devout cat, when I still had the chapel in my home, she loved to hide her kittens under my altar..."The sparrow herself finds a home and the swallow a nest for her brood; she lays her young by your altars, Lord of hosts, my king and my God." When I offered Mass alone, she would sit by my feet and closely watch every move and gesture I made.

Pray for me too, as I struggle with my own health issues. My kidney disease is stable at this time, but between the medications I take and anemia, I can barely function. I'm still able to work and I thank God for a supportive supervisor! Even so, there are some days it is difficult to keep going. My renal specialist and G.P. are conferring as to how best to treat the anemia, with the probability that I will be put on some kind of regular injections to stimulate production of red blood cells.

Prays for you and Anna that the Lord will grant you both peace and comfort.

Having sprinkled Holy water on more than one feline, a prayer request for a cat is somehow a thing I can't resist.

Don, You AND Anna will be added to our prayer-list starting tonight!

Do these simple prayers:

Let us pray.
God, who supplied even animals and pets to lighten man's life, we humbly entreat You to preserve this creature for our use, since without them mankind cannot subsist; through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Let us pray.
We humbly entreat Your mercy, O Lord, praying that in Your name and by the power of Your blessing this animal Anna may be cured of the dire sickness that afflicts her. Let the devil's power over her be utterly abolished, and do You, Lord, protect her life and health against recurrent sickness; through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

Let us pray.
Have pity on us, Lord, we beg You, and turn away every scourge from Your faithful. Rid my pet of the dread sickness that is destroying her, so that we who are justly punished when we go astray may feel Your gracious mercy when we repent; through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

(then sprinkle Anna with Holy Water!)

Whatever happens...remember that some Fathers firmly believed that our pets will be with us in Heaven. St. Gregory Nazianzen for one...believed that all animals would be with us in Paradise!

In His great mercy,
+Fr. Gregory

Another Prayer for Sick Animals:

PRAYER FOR OUR ANIMAL FRIENDS

Heavenly Father, our human ties with our friends of other species is wonderful and special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our
special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering she has. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of
Yours. They have trust in us as we have in You; our souls and theirs are on this earth together to give one another friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and fill Your ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have.

(Here mention the names of the animal needing prayer).

Your goodness is turned upon every living thing and Your grace flows to all Your creatures. From our souls to theirs goodness flows, touching each of us with the reflection of Your love. Grant to our special animal companion long and healthy lives. Give them good relationships with us, and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us, but only drawing closer to You. Grant our prayer through the intercession of good
St. Gregory of Nazianzen, who honored You and loved all Your creatures. Give him the power to watch over our animal friends until they are
safely with You in eternity, where we someday hope to join them in giving You honor forever. Amen.

In His great mercy,
+Fr. Gregory

Don,

My prayers for you and Anna. We have four cats and have had many with whom we shared our lives in the past. They are and always have been part of the family. It is so hard when they are sick although they teach us so much about pain and suffering. God's gift of feline friends.

Bless you and your kitty,

In Christ,

Mary Jo...cat lover.

Dear Servant of God Fr. Don,

His holiness, Pope John Paul II, has a pet cat. I was watching one of those game shows awhile back where they ask trivia type questions. The question asked was "Who does Pope John Paul II have breakfast with every morning"? The correct answer was "his cat".

Prayers for you, Fr. Don, and your kitty cat, Anna.

My wife and I lost our little Sofie dog (dachshund) on November 1, 2003. It was so hard because she was fine one minute and going in for her rabies booster, then she saw another dog in the vet's waiting room and began to bark so hysterically that she died of a heart attack in Nancy's arms.

May God bless you and keep you always !

Father Don,

As a cat lover who has lost 2 in recent years, I understand the pain that you're feeling. My prayers for you, that you will know when to let go and that your sorrow will be lessened by the fond memories of the good times that you had together. My prayers for Anna, that she will not suffer.

Prayers also for your own health, that God restore it to you and that he grant you many years.

Neil
