Most recent update:

Emily is back in the hospital. She is bleeding into the tumor. So far the family isn't sure what is planned.

Many thanks for all prayers. Angela, many MANY thanks for the two packages from France - the second one arrived yesterday.

In Christ,

Sharon

Please be assured that my own humble prayers and remembrances at the Divine Liturgy are joined with those of all of us here. May God watch over Emily and all those who love her so dearly. She is blessed with such warm and caring family and friends.

In Christ,

Fr. Joe

Many thanks to all who continue to pray.

The tumor has responded well to chemo. It has shrunk significantly, and the finger of it that extended into her vena cava is gone, as well as all the spots on her lungs. She's been in and out of the hospital for several weeks, as kids with childhood cancer are prone to be.

Emily will have surgery today. The surgeons will remove the affected kidney & adrenal glands, along with (God willing) the tumor that surrounds them. The surgery is risky but necessary, and the docs at Children's Hospital have an excellent success rate with this type of tumor, despite it's tendency to bleed & break apart.

Assuming surgery goes well, Emily will begin radiation treatments shortly. We are blessed to have in Columbus not only a wonderful Children's Hospital, but also the James Cancer Institute at OSU, a world class facility (for all you US News Hospital ratings readers) where she will receive the radiation treatments.

Just trolling for more prayer.

Thank you much! I will keep you all posted as I get info.

Thanks for the update.

In just over 3 weeks [ to be accurate on the 17th Sept wink ] I will be sailing to France again. Raymond has said that we will go to Lourdes during the time.[ Hurrah] Actually at this very moment I hope he is near Lourdes as he flew out this morning to drive a party back tomorrow as their driver took ill in Lourdes. Somewhat ironic.

However is anything needed for Emily whilst I am there ?

Please assure her parents that they are all in my prayers

Angela

Glad to hear from you about Emily, Sharon. No need to troll, though. Prayers continue.

May God grant her healing, health, and a long happy life!

May He bless you and your family with the same!
