Thanks Laura...

Be sure to go somewhere (a church if reasonable) to vocalize and at least speak quietly if you will disturb someone else. Do that at least once sometime when you start and once at or near the end.

Speaking out loud (vocalize) will not matter to God one-way or another but it will to you. Our humanity is just that way sometimes.

Get to what is - real. Dig for it.

See you later.

This came to mind as I was reading the posts here.

But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we preach),
9
for, if you confess 5 with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10
For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
11
For the scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame."
12
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all, enriching all who call upon him.
13
For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
14
6 But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach?
15
And how can people preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring (the) good news!" 7
16
But not everyone has heeded the good news; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed what was heard from us?"
17
Thus faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
18
But I ask, did they not hear? Certainly they did; for "Their voice has gone forth to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world."

Vocalizing with God is very important, for it is by hearing that we beleive and are converted. Too he has got huge shoulders - after all he holds the world in place - so don't be afraid to let him have it. biggrin

May I just add that vocalizing is important because the Evil One and his minions are not omniscient-they cannot "hear" you tell them to get behind you, as God hears our prayers when we speak to Him silently. If you are being beseiged by the Evil One naming the name of Christ(as in the Jesus prayer) outloud is the last thing he wants you to do.
I have struggled with depression and this may be part of what you are experiencing. The way I think of depression is this: I can know the truth but believe the lie when I am depressed. But that doesn't change the truth, that Jesus does have mercy on us. The Scripture that has been very powerful for me is "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for casting aside arguments, tearing down strongholds and every vain thing which exalts itself against the knowledge of God."( I think it's 2nd Corinthians 10) The Scriptures go on to say take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. You probably also know the verse that says we are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.
All of the advice you have received is good, but most especially remember that the name of Jesus is your shield and when you fix your eyes on Him you will be renewed and restored. There is no quick fix for pain and doubt and fear. There is only Jesus.
I will pray for you.

Michele,

I like Rev. 19

9
Then the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed 5 are those who have been called to the wedding feast of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These words are true; they come from God."
10
I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Don't! I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brothers who bear witness to Jesus. Worship God. Witness to Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." 6
11
7 Then I saw the heavens opened, and there was a white horse; its rider was (called) "Faithful and True." He judges and wages war in righteousness.
12
His eyes were (like) a fiery flame, and on his head were many diadems. He had a name 8 inscribed that no one knows except himself.
13
He wore a cloak that had been dipped in 9 blood, and his name was called the Word of God.
14
The armies of heaven followed him, mounted on white horses and wearing clean white linen.
15
Out of his mouth came a sharp sword to strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod, and he himself will tread out in the wine press 10 the wine of the fury and wrath of God the almighty.
16
He has a name written on his cloak and on his thigh, "King of kings and Lord of lords."

The battle is his to win, we just have to hold and PRONOUNCE the truth of his word biggrin
