Today is June 6th, the 62nd anniversary of D-Day. Let us remember in prayer those who sacrificed themselves in the fight against evil to preserve liberty.
Eternal Memory!

To listen to a short audio clip of the song, "The Longest Day" by the West Point Glee Club go to http://www.standyesteady.com/cd_v3.html. The entire CD or DVD is available at Walmart under the title, "Stand Ye Steady." The DVD in particular is very moving and a real tribute to those who have served in our armed forces.

To those who have died, both in battle and as a result of age, may they never be forgotten. Id love to visit Normandy someday and see all the rows and rows of crosses and stars of david.
Memory Eternal!

I was fortunate to have been able to take a tour of the invastion sites a few years ago when I visited friends in Normandy. It was incredible to walk on the ground where so much history took place. Did you know that in addition to the American cemetery, there is one for soldiers from the British empire, and one for the Germans? In Cleveland, Ohio there is a replica of the huge monument in the American cemetery of the soul rising from the sea to the heavens. I was somewhat offended that one of the landing beaches, where so many soldiers died, is once again a sunbathing beach for the French. -Wolfgang

Wolfgang, if you can provide an address or a link to the momument in Cleveland, I would love to see it. My great uncle Mike fought in D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. He managed to live through both of them. The Cemetery in Normandy: http://www.abmc.gov/cemeteries/cemeteries/no.php

Here's a picture of the memorial in France:

I thought the one in Cleveland was a replica of the one in France. I was wrong. I'll have to do some research to find out if they were designed by the same person.

My father was wounded in France June 7, 1944, the day after D-Day, 62 years ago today. I pray for him and all those who fought and for those who gave their lives. Memory Eternal!

For my dad Graham, all the 'Patriots' in his Military Purple Heart Order, may they all have peace and rest in the Lord...
Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen....
