Friends, see Moe's post on Church News for websites listed. Let us pray because, we just heard on the news and I see on some websites that churches(including one Catholic and one American)in Iraq have had car bombings causing injuries. I am praying for those who may be killed, injured, and the insurgents who caused this attack. God have mercy on all.

In Christ and the Theotokos.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.
Lord have mercy, Christ hear us. Christ, graciously hear us.
God the Father of heaven, have mercy on us
God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us.
God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, have mercy on your children in Iraq. May the souls of the just repose as martyrs for the Crown of Christ. Let abundant grace fall on the families and friends, protect them from every wicked snare of the evil one. With legions on angles set a guard around them that cannot be passed and protect them from anymore harm that might try to befall them. And Jesus, work miracles in their day as you called Lazarus from the tomb, Lord let those who say the believe in God, see the miracles of the True Living God. May there be many new souls brought into the kingdom from this tragedy, that we may become fervent in prayer for them. Amen.

It looks like the damage, death, and injuries in the co-ordinated church bombings in Iraq are much more extensive than I originally thought when I started this thread.

"Eternal Father,
I offer You the Body and Blood,
Soul and Divinity of Your dearly
beloved Son,
Our Lord Jesus Christ,
in atonement for our sins
and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His
sorrowful Passion,
have mercy on us
and on the whole world.

Holy God,
Holy Mighty One,
Holy Immortal One,
have mercy on us
and on the whole world."

from the Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Urghhh! What next? Some days there is so much bad news I just want to hide and cut off all contact with the outside world - not a possibility, of course. Many prayers for our fellow Christians.

I agree, ByzanTN.

Today I just felt sick to my stomach. What IS it with these people? Do they really believe Allah approves of their madness?
I feel a compelling need to pray for these victims. Thank you for reminding me of the Chaple t of Divine Mercy. I don't know much about it but friends seem to bring it up to me time and time again for many things. I've put it aside long enough.
Such a sad state of affairs! I could just cry.

LEAD ME FROM DEATH TO LIFE, FROM FALSEHOOD TO TRUTH.

LEAD ME FROM DESPAIR TO HOPE, FROM FEAR TO TRUST

LEAD ME FROM HATE TO LOVE, FROM WAR TO PEACE.

LET PEACE FILL OUR HEARTS, OUR WORLD, OUR UNIVERSE...THAT WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO HONESTLY SHOW THAT WE ARE YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS. AMEN.

O God, you are the source of life and peace.
Praised be your name forever.
We know it is you who turn our minds to thoughts of peace.
Hear our prayer in this time of crisis.
Your power changes hearts.

Muslims, Christians and Jews remember, and profoundly affirm,
that they are followers of the one God,
Children of Abraham, brothers and sisters;
enemies begin to speak to one another;
those who were estranged join hands in friendship;
nations seek the way of peace together.

Strengthen our resolve to give witness to these
truths by the way we live.
Give to us:
Understanding that puts an end to strife;
Mercy that quenches hatred, and
Forgiveness that overcomes vengeance.
Empower all people to live in your law of love

We ask this in Your Holy Name, You Who are Lord unto ages of ages, Amen

+Father Archimandrite Gregory, who asks for your holy prayers!
