Dear djs:

The remarkable advances of science have allowed older humans, even menopausal, to carry fetuses (well, babies) to full term and deliver them safely into this world! wink

However, I have not heard nor read that the human male form can now substitute the female form in this peculiar function of the latter.

In this wise, I hope Bob is not suffering from complications of pregnancy as you have surmised! biggrin

Epidural injections are injections of steroids into the spine to help alleviate pain caused by spinal stenosis and herniated discs -

Dear Bob:

We believe you!

djs and I are just trying to inject (pun intended biggrin ) levity into an excruciatingly painful experience you must be having at the moment, even if goes on only sporadically.

I know for a fact that the spinal cord IS the body's main nerve conduit and it radiates pain throughout rather authoritatively.

I don't envy your situation. But hang in there.

With the Forum's joint prayers and your regular medications, we hope for your speedy recovery.

Dear Bob,

I know what you are going thru. I had three epidural injections for a severly herniated disk about 12 years ago (next step would have been surgery). Hard to believe women endure these injections as a matter of couse during their labor. My first injection immediately took away 90 percent of the pain and related symptoms. The other two injections took care of the remaining 5 percent, and time and exercises took care of the rest.

May God guide your doctors in this procedure and give you the strength and patience to reach full recovery.

Thank you for your moral support. I have six herniated discs plus spinal stenosis. The pain can be almost unbearable at times. After two injects there was only about 50% improvement. So I'm counting on this third injection. If that doesn't work then there are injections right into the nerve root.

My doctor says I'm a poor candidate for the operation (especially with no guarantees) because of many health factors, age, high blood pressure, and two bouts with cancer. So I'm counting on these injections. Hopefully this third one will do the trick.
