This is a prayer request I received from my prayer list. I don't usually send them to others, but this is so urgent.
Rose

Jordan, our son, is currently in critical condition in the ICU at
University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.

Background: Jordan was sick for a number of days in the last week
of January. Kids get sick in the winter... He got better the weekend of
the Super Bowl, in fact playing in one of his basketball games on Saturday.
Sunday evening he started to feel crummy again. Monday, felt badly -- no
school. Tuesday, real bad -- headaches. We took him to a doctor, they
spent hours with him and figured it was the flu... Wednesday, he was very
ill. Donna took him back to the hospital that afternoon cause something
just wasn't right. He couldn't walk or respond to anything very much. He
got an MRI on his head and they discovered a MAJOR infection on his brain.
He immediately went in for emergency surgery.

Post Op: OK Thursday. Thursday night, though, he took a turn for
the worst. There were a few times that night that both Donna and I thought
"this is it." But he made it through. Friday was touchy, but OK. Thank
God that most of our families were able to come in then and support us.

Saturday: Great Day. He was stable all day. We were cautiously
optimistic, cause he looked so good. Let me say here that the treatment
involves drugs for paralysis and sedation (like morphine). Bottom Line: He
is in a coma. But all vital signs were great and staying that way. Our big
concern was his internal cranium pressure (ICP).

Sunday: BAD. The morning began with an elevated ICP. Pretty high
and was treated. Then it got higher. And was treated. One of "last resort"
treatments is to pack him in ice and lower his body temp to 32 degrees
Centigrade. You figure it out, but it is cold. And then the ICP went up
again dramatically. They did another CT Scan and discovered that the
infection was spreading (despite the antibiotic treatment he's getting). So
we were faced with one option to save his life: Drastic surgery on his
brain. Tonight they went in and cut away the whole top of his skull bone.
They did this for two reasons: 1. To clean out the puss in there. 2. To
allow his brain to expand as it normally does when it has been damaged
(which causes the ICP to go higher). Now the ICP is not too much of a
problem because he doesn't have the top of his skull. (They freeze the bone
for reattachment later --! 6 months maybe)

Current status: Critical. He may not live. His body is strong but
neurologically this is not good. If he lives he may not wake up. If he
wakes up...

What we need: Your support and prayers. The doctors have
continually stressed that we need a MIRACLE for Jordan to come out of this.
And yes, he does. We need a miracle. We really do. Please pray for him.
What we need is your prayers and appeal to God for a miracle.
Jordan can use that other stuff when he wakes up.

Two more things:
1. We are very happy with his current treatment at UNM. From what
I understand we have one of the top pediatric neurosurgeons in the country,
and I believe it. He, and his department, is wonderful.
2. In Jordan's case, this was caused by a "simple" sinus infection.
It elevated to something much more serious. From what they tell me any
infection in the head (including ears) that is left unchecked could develop
into this. Rare (1%), but it happens. In Jordan's case, we don't care
about that 1% number; it happened and he is clinging for his life (not to
mention his personality, intelligence and just everything).

Please Pray for him, we really do need a miracle.

Steve

+Lord, have mercy.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
