I just received the e-mail below from David Schimpf [ cw.mariancollege.edu] . Those here who are or have been posters at the CINEast [ cin.org] forum will remember David as the member who sends a daily e-mail to the CINEast community, containing excerpts from the wisdom and prayers of our holy sainted forebearers. David's wife, Lisa, reposed on Wednesday, 29 September, at age 42. Please remember her in your prayers and also David and their children. May Lisa's memory be eternal. O Lord, receive the soul of Your handmaiden, Lisa, who has departed from this life, and lead her to rest in a place of light, happiness, and peace, where there is neither pain nor suffering, neither grief nor sighing, and as You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, forgive her every sin she has committed by thought, or word, or deed, for there is not a man who lives and does not sin, for You alone are without sin and You are the Resurrection and the Life. Holy Theotokos, Mother of us, give comfort to David and to Lisa's children, Becca and Mark, who are deprived of her earthly comfort and love. From: David Schimpf dschimpf@charter.net Date: 2004/10/02 Sat AM 07:03:20 EDT To: cineast@cin.org Subject: CE: Please pray for us!
Greetings and peace to all!
My dear wife of twenty-two years, Lisa, died suddenly Wednesday of a coronary embolism. She had begun to exhibit signs of a heart attack on Monday, when we took her to the emergency room of our local hospital. She was eventually transferred about a hundred miles away to the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and the Cardiac unit there. They stabilized her, and, by Wednesday morning, had improved significantly.
In preparation for a cardiac catheterization, they were about to perform an echo-cardiagram, when, while moving her from a wheelchair to the examining table in the lab, she stopped breathing, and the staff was unable to resuscitate her. The hospital provided us with the best possible medical care and support; I couldn't have asked for better care, whether medically or pastorally.
Lisa was 42. We have two children, Becca, 21 and Mark, 15.
Without minimizing the horribleness of this sudden and unexpected event, I would like you also to know that I am doing better than I could possibly have imagined. Our family has received tremendous support from our friends, the Marian College community (I teach there), and our local community. Ultimately, however, there is no question that the faith and spiritual life that has been so graciously given me is the foundation of my support. I am telling those who ask that I will be all right, but it is not going to be an easy or painless path. The reason I can say that with complete confidence is because of the multi-dimensional support network and safety net, ultimately the life of the Holy Spirit, that surrounds us and infuses us.
My children have brought me special comfort and support. I am in awe with how concerned they are for each other and for me, and how honest they are, and how loving.
I humbly request your prayers for me, my wife, my children and family, and our friends. We have already received many blessings, even on Wednesday both before and after Lisa's death. Her funeral is today, Saturday.
May we always be blessed with peace, and may her memory be eternal,
In the name of Christ,
David Schimpf

May the loving presence of the Trinity be with the family in a very special way during this time of great loss. Grant them, O Lord, strength, and bring them peace.
In Christ,
Porter

May Lisa's memory be eternal+
I have always appreciated Davids sending those quotes. They are right on quite often to what is happening during the course of a given day.
