I visited the Ruthenian monastery Mount Saint Macrina in Uniontown, PA two years ago...long story...anyway, I still occassionally hear from the sisters, and last week one sent out this:

Most of you have met Julie Hritz...The good news is that today, the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, she officially became an Affiliate! So, she begins a period of formal discernment. She joins Lisa Matthews and Vicki Barnosky who have been Affiliates since February.

Julie is halfway through her bachelor's at University of Akron. She attends St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church in Brecksville, Ohio. She is very active in the Pro-Life movement and with the Newman group on campus. We are excited that she has taken this step forward. Please pray for her.

That was the e-mail. An Affiliate is like a pre-postulate, I guess. Anyway, who-hoo, Byzantine nuns!

Prayers for Julie, that she be guided to know what God wishes for her and strengthened to accept whichever path that is.

Many years,

Neil

Prayers for Julie, may the Holy Ghost guide her discernment and may she become a Saint someday!

Lord have mercy on your servant Julie!

For Julie, Lasha, and all the young men and women who are hearing and responding to the call of God upon their lives in vocation to Religious Life and Priesthood...
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen....
