SLAVA ISUSU CHRISTU!

In your charity, please remember HELEN GABRIN, the Cantor for St. John the Baptist in Uniontown, who fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday.

Helen was diagnosed with cancer over Halloween Weekend.

She has been the Cantor at St. John's since 1979.

May Helen be received into the Mansions of the Just to continue her work of praising the Lord with her voice. May she join the cantors who sing unceasingly.

May Helen's family be comforted at her passing and may the Lord heal them, helping them to go on in faith.

Dear Friends,

May she indeed rest in peace!

My friend's father was a cantor who reposed from cancer two years ago.

They put his cantor's robe on his coffin during the Divine Liturgy.

The priest said that the reposed loved music and loved singing in church and in choir.

He added that there are "nine choirs" of Angels in heaven . . . if he was any judge of character, he said that the reposed cantor has probably applied to sing in all nine . . . wink

O God of all spiritual and corporeal beings, You trampled death, broke the power of Satan and granted life to the whole world; now, O Lord, grant also rest to the soul of Your departed handmaiden, the Cantor Helen, in a place of light, freshness, and peace, where there is no pain, sorrow, or mourning.

In life, Helen raised up her voice to the Glory of Your Name and the service of Your Church; in death, give peace to her soul and repose her among Your saints. As You are a gracious God and the Lover of Mankind, forgive her every transgression that she might have committed, whether by word or thought or deed, since You alone are without sin and You are the Resurrection and the Life. We render glory to You, together with Your Eternal Father, and Your most Holy, gracious, and life-giving Spirit, now and always and forever and forever. Amen.

Memory eternal to the Canor Helen and may her family be comforted in their sorrow.

Troparion of St. Romanos the Melodist (Tone 4):

"Thou didst gladden Christ's Church by thy melodies like an inspired heavenly trumpet. For thou wast enlightened by the Mother of God and didst shine on the world as God's poet. We lovingly honour thee, O righteous Romanos."

St. Romanos the Melodist is the patron saint of cantors and deacons. I ask his prayers for the repose of Helen. I know she must have truly loved her work for the Church for 25 years.
